Everyday Inspiration: Day 5; Hook ‘Em With a Quote

The following quote is by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

The reason why this is one of my favorite quotes is because I never believed in myself nor my dreams. It wasn’t till I made an active choice to become in active recovery with my mental health challenges that this particular quote hit home for me. I have a future and my future has beauty even when I have some dark days. I love the fact I have dreams and a future ahead of me even when I have some dark days like everyone else. I am glad my dark days are far and few between the good days.

When I look back on life, I would rather regret the things I did than the things I didn’t do.

I don’t remember who said the above quote but I do remember hearing it from my junior high/middle school band director. I’ve done my best to live by this quote as I want to live the best life I can. Yes, there are things I regret not doing however not once have I regretted doing something I know I would regret not doing.

I remember hearing this quote for the first time in junior high school and never really though much of it back then. When I started my recovery process with multiple mental health diagnosis, this quote hit me like a ton of bricks. It helped me continue with my recovery as well realizing that the future is beautiful. The future is beautiful because you never know what is going to happen or what you will see.
