Today’s poem is about “faces” and I know the picture is of a skull but it has a face. I wanted to challenge myself with today’s poem. I name him Mr. Skull Face. I hope to keep you update on him one I start on him. The poem of him is below.

Mr. Skull Face

Mr. Skull Face is a cross stitch

that yet has to be started.

Once started and finished,

Mr. Skull Face will be a piece of work

and a piece of beauty.

“Feed me now.”

Ignoring that feed me now look,

Is a look no cat owner will forget.

As if you forget it

Facing Facts

A familiar face of facing facts,

facts that can be challenging to face.

A familiar face of facing facts,

facts that can be a slap in the face.

A familiar face of facing facts,

facts of realization.

A familiar face of facing facts,

facts of awe ha moments,

moments that can lead to recovery

and a life worth living.

Facing facts is what

recovery is all about.

Look in the eyes of a person of color;

Let the person know they matter;

Let the person you know you care;

Let the person know you see their pain.

Now look into the mirror;

Look at your face, your white face,

and ask yourself,

“What can I do to help fight racism?”

Look into the eyes of another white person;

Now have a serious conversation about racism,

A conversation on how you and that person will help end racism.
