Getting Back to Blogging on the Regular Basis

Good Morning, World!!! I have been doing some thinking and am wanting to get back to blogging on the more regular basis. I tend to go weeks and sometimes months without blogging and it really bothers me I am not keeping you my reader more engaged. So, I am going to start back up my “Weekly Check-Ins” this Saturday evening. I also plan on starting my “Weekly Plans” this Sunday morning before my volunteer shift.

Another thing I plan on doing is WordPress’s courses through their Blogging U. I will be doing four courses. Those four course are Finding Your Everyday Inspiration, Intro to Poetry, Developing Your Eye I and Developing Your Eye II. I will start with Finding Your Everyday Inspiration this Sunday and is a twenty day course. Then after I am done with doing Find Your Everyday Inspiration, I will do Intro to Poetry which is a ten day course. After Intro to Poetry I will then do Developing Your Eye I which is a ten day course. After I do, Developing Your Eye I, I will do Developing Your II which is another ten day course. All this will be a total of forty days in a row so I hope it becomes a habit to continue in the New Year as doing all four of these course will going into the New Year.

I do not have much more to discuss in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my perspective that you the reader, read my blog. If it was not for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Intro to Poetry; Day 2: Face

Today’s poem is about “faces” and I know the picture is of a skull but it has a face. I wanted to challenge myself with today’s poem. I name him Mr. Skull Face. I hope to keep you update on him one I start on him. The poem of him is below.

Mr. Skull Face

Mr. Skull Face is a cross stitch

that yet has to be started.

Once started and finished,

Mr. Skull Face will be a piece of work

and a piece of beauty.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 16: Mine Your Own Material

I never really understood this particular assignment and never did it and replaced it with another blog but just wanted that right now I wanted WordPress could be more descriptive in how they want certain things written about. I appears that my Everyday Inspiration blog post have been short and to the point or long winded.. Usually they are are more long winded. Only four more post after this particular post is down for Everyday Inspiration. I’m still planning on doing my other course even if work gets in the way.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 13: Play with Word Count

In all honesty, I really didn’t want to do this particular assignment and was planning to bash on the English teachers I had going to high school here in Washington. Despite the lack of English Education I received from the Bellevue School District in high school, I know they, the teachers tried or at least I hope they tied to the best of their abilities.

But that gave me another idea. An idea I actually remembered having to do with my two junior high (special education) teachers in seventh and eighth grades. It was required in California that ALL junior high and middle schoolers had to have some form of paper on word count. It was up to the teacher they would do it. I heard horror stories about kids needing to do 1,000 word essay’s. That freaked me out and it wasn’t even any of my teachers assigning that to me. Any way Special Ed English teachers had us do our word count papers on writing a certain type of poem known as a Haiku. I remember my first haiku I wrote in seventh grade. It was:

Fine I’ll Write It

by Gertie

Being forced to do

a number thing with English

paper does suck shit

I may have not been exactly what my teacher was looking for or principle for that matter, I still got an A+ on it as I did what I was asked to do and did it correctly. Plus it gave the teachers something to laugh about or at least that is what I was told. I did get best poem award for a seventh grader.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 12: Critique a Piece of Work

Good Afternoon, World!!! It is hard for me to critique a piece of work weather it’s art, a piece of music or piece of writing including poetry. I have a hard time critiquing because everyone has a different way to expressing themselves. Not all them will be my cup of tea but I will not critique someone’s peace of art, music or writing including poetry as it is not my place to judge.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 9: Writing & Not Writing

To write or not to write depends on the context. For example, my job requires me to write notes on clients after having a session with. I tend to write the notes on my clients as soon as possible; usually after the session is over. Sadly, there are times I can’t write notes after a session with client which is why the last hour of my work day is for paperwork which includes finishing up notes on clients I saw that day.

When it comes to blogging, I try to blog at least twice a week. On that note, as of today I am on a twenty-three day writing streak. I think in is one of the longest streaks I have been on. I’m sure I have had longer writing streaks when in comes to blogging but I’m sure how long ago it was or when it was.

When, I to comes to journaling, I tend to make an effort to do it three to four times a week. I try to do it that often because it’s a form self care for me. It helps me keep my mental health symptoms in check especially when my symptoms are acting up.

Now on to poetry, it usually happens when I feel inspired to do so. Sometimes it comes multiple times a day to not writing any poetry for a month or two. When it comes to not writing poetry for a month or two, I contribute to writers block which happens more often than I like it to happen.

As far as when and where I write is dependent on what I am writing. It is also dependent on the time of year due to the weather here in Seattle. I like to write outside but I only do that when it’s nice outside and not work related. When it’s work related it needs to be in a private due to HIPAA laws. Sadly, I do not have an outside setting that is private so it’s inside a private space for work related stuff.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 6: The Space to Write

As far as a space to write depends on if I am working from home or from the office. When it comes to working from the office, it is easier to write notes. As far as writing notes for work when I work from my home, I do have a “work space” which I not only do appointments with clients virtually but have to write notes on my client and it seems to be working.

As far as writing space for blogging it depends on my mood, the weather and my work schedule. I usually blog from home in various places that is not my home work space. I also l like to take space to write outside when the weather is good. Preferably at parks that have some nature hiking trails in some of the Seattle Park system. I tend to do my best writing when I’m in “nature” even if it’s in the middle of the city.

Of course when I am writing in one of my favorite places at home when it is not work related, my cat Billie Dean loves to help me write. Billie even want to help me with my work notes but he seems to want to help with the non work stuff. I love the Billie tries to help me write. I love him so much.

Intro to Poetry; Day 4: Journey

Untitled Poem

by Gertie

Life is meant to be a journey;

a journey that is meant to be full of

love and support.

Love and support many people

sadly don’t have.

Some don’t have the

love and support

due to mental health and/or addiction.

That’s where peers come

in;

to give hope

as well as love and support.

Peer Support is key to

ones journey to

recovery.

Intro to Poetry; Day 3: Friend

Billie Dean the Kat

by Gertie

Billie Dean the Kat is a cat.

A cat that is not only a family member

but my best friend.

Some say cats are only pets or animals but

cats are both family and friends.

That is why my cat, Billie is my

friend.
