Daily Prompt; What Olympic Sports Do You Enjoy Watching the Most?

Daily writing prompt
What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

This is a great topic especially since the 2024 Summer Olympics just ended. If I were to pick an Olympic sport that I enjoy watching it would be a tie between Track & Field and Gymnastics. Track & Field I love to watch as I was in track & field in high school. I wasn’t any good and usually came in last and occasionally second to last. My dad was in track & field and he was great in the sport. My grandpa was on the track & field team at Washington State University. He was awesome. I enjoy watching gymnastics because it fascinates me with their abilities. Abilities I never had and appreciate others being able to do gymnastics.

Just Another Blog Post

Good Morning, World!!! I realize it has been a while since I last blogged. I have various reasons why I have not blogged as well as some excuses to why I have not blogged. I will do my best to blog on a more regular basis however I cannot make any promises as we never know what life may bring.

On that note, I have had a lot going on. Currently, one of the most pressing things I have been doing is helping a stray cat. Sadly, the Seattle Animal Control is not coming out due to the fact that the cat is not injured and that there are no leash laws for cats in Seattle. I am frustrated with the animal control at the moment for a few reasons but thankfully, I was given the email of the executive director that oversees the animal control. That means I have been working on an email to send to the executive director. As far as getting help for the stray kitty I have contacted another organization to help. They are extremely busy and backed up at the moment but they have been quite helpful as well as been in frequent communication with me. I am hoping that this organization can come out to help some time tomorrow or Tuesday.

If you read my blog regularly you know I live in the United States. It is an election year in which we vote for the next president of the United States. There have been many more twists and turns this presidential election year than I have seen in my 45 years of life. Hell, the same goes for my almost 94 year old grandpa. I may not be a fan of Trump nor have I voted for him and I will not be voting for him this time around but sadly someone tried to assassinate him. I may not like the man but he shouldn’t be shot for any reason. Also, President Biden dropped out of the presidential race for a second term to be president. As of right now Kamala Harris is running for president for the Democratic party. The political climate here in the United States is extremely shaky at the moment.

Now on to a happier topic, the 2024 Summer Olympics. Sadly, I didn’t watch the opening ceremonies but I have been watching the various events that have happened already. I love how the Olympics brings unity and peace this world needs. I just wish there could be unity and peace when the Olympics do not happen. I really enjoy watching the Olympics and I am grateful that they are a break from the daily grind.

I do not have much more to discuss in this particular blog post and I hope to blog more regularly. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you the reader, read my blog. If it was not for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be continuing to write my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Weekly Check-In

Good Morning, World. I have decided to start doing my weekly check-ins once again and for a multitude of reasons. One of which to keep you the reader up to date on what is going  in the my life and two, to get back in the swing of things of blogging. I have found that if I blog on the regular basis, it keeps my regular readers to want to check-out my blog more often. I have many other reasons why I am stating my weekly check-ins however I am not going to bore you with those reasons.

A great deal has happened this past week so lets just start on Monday since nothing really notable happened Sunday. Monday, I saw my therapist, Diana. Overall, my session with her went well. It went much better than the last session I had with which was back in June. In fact Diana stated that I made “progress” in our session. If I look back on our session I did make some progress. It was an emotionally difficult session with Diana am grateful that I made progress. We discussed some difficult topics that I usually quickly change the subject on and this time I didn’t change the topic which is one of the successes I had in my session.

The success I had in my session with Diana is a major deal but the success I was able to show someone else on Tuesday and Wednesday validated all the work I have done in my recovery. I attended a two day conference on focusing on peers specialist and supportive employment and how the two can interact with each other. So, I ran into another professional at this conference who knew me at my worst. A person who didn’t think I was capable of ever working due to the “severity” of my symptoms at the time.  This person was “shocked as hell” that I was in attendance as well as working as a peer specialist. It felt good being able to prove to someone that I am capable of doing something that they thought I was unable to do. The interaction I had with this person helped me realize that I am a success and how much I am proud of myself for accomplishing.

On the topic accomplishments I have been following the Summer Olympics. Now, the individuals participating in the Olympics have had major accomplishments in their lives to just be able to make it to the Olympics. Yes, many of the Olympians have had difficulties in their lives and you can compare to just about any thing in life. The one thing I am highly disappointed in is that a soccer play on the U.S.A’s woman soccer team was a sore looser and unsportsmanlike. This soccer player made her country (which is my country) look like they are sore losers. Just know we as Americans don’t approve of such unsportsmanlike behavior. The Olympics are suppose to bring the world together and hope that it continue to do so.

The correlation I can see between the Olympics and mental health recovery is hope. And that’s what I want to end this post today with a message hope.  We all need hope! Peace Out!!

Happy Leap Day

Happy Leap Day!!! Today is February 29th and as you all know it only comes once every four years. Leap year falls the year when both the Summer Olympics and the United States Presidential elections happen. Just some random crap I thought I would share with you all.

I am full of random crap in my head. I just never thought the random crap would be helpful in a job interview. I mentioned to you all in my previous post that I had an interview last Thursday (February 25, 2016) for a peer specialist position at my current employer. Anyway, I got “bonus points” for knowing something the other interviewee’s did not mention. I was asked about my knowledge or experience of what an RSN is? My response what it’s the Regional Support Network which is going to be changing to a BHO or Behavioral Health Organization on April 1st. It boggles my mind that someone who is in recovery and applying for a peer specialist job doesn’t know this information. I just figured in was just some random crap I store in my head of mine that wouldn’t necessarily need to be used for anything. Boy, was I wrong.

I am looking forward to work today. I do have to leave work an hour to go to an appointment to see my Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). As much as I enjoy my job and don’t want to leave early, I also realize that I need to see my Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner so  I can maintain and continue on my recovery. My recovery means the world to me and if I don’t continue with it then I wont be able to help my current clients as well as future clients I will serve.

Speaking of clients, I need to get going so I can get ready for work. I hope you all have a wonderful day. In fact I hope everyone has a wonderful work week. Happy Leap Day and Peace Out!!!
