Goodbye, 2019

Happy New Years Eve, World!!! This year has been a year of ups and downs. Mainly a year of ups and a great deal of growth within my mental health recovery. I owe a lot of my growth to my last therapist and my cat, Lil Gertie. Sadly, my last therapist went on paternity leave and when he comes back his job duties will be changing which means I just got a new therapist. My new therapist seems nice enough but I have only had two sessions with him.

As I mentioned, I also owe some major improvements in my recovery to my cat, Lil Gertie. She helped me a great deal. She helped me learn how to love. Lil Gertie not only helped me to love others but to love myself. I think if it wasn’t for Lil Gertie, there would have been some moments, specifically in 2018, I would have tried to take my own life. Thankfully, my love for her is what helped me. The best part of this year was bringing in the New Year with Lil Gertie. The worst part of this year was having to say goodbye to her on Thanksgiving Day evening. Having to say goodbye to your best friend is never easy. The grief of loosing a pet hurts and hurts like hell. If it wasn’t for the grief I have dealt with loosing Lil Gertie, I don’t think I would have come to the conclusion of what grief is all about. Its about realizing that you loved and loved with all your heart.

Bringing in 2020 and saying goodbye to 2019 is bittersweet. It’s bittersweet that I brought it in with my best friend, my cat, Lil Gertie, and won’t be saying goodbye to 2019 with Lil Gertie in it. However, if it wasn’t for adopting in Lil Gertie in 2018, I don’t think I would have ever even considered volunteering at an animal shelter. In fact I am now officially a volunteer where I adopted Lil Gertie at. My first official shift where I adopted Lil Gertie at is on January 7th. So, in essence I will be honoring Lil Gertie by starting off the New Year helping people and families find their perfect cat for their family.

I do not have much to say except that I am forever grateful for Lil Gertie and the hope she has given me for my future. I want to thank all of you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has a great New Years Eve and an awesome 2020 ahead of them. Please drive safely and get home to your families in one piece. Happy New Years, World!!!

Feeling Sad & Trying to Not Overreact or Be a Drama Queen

Good Evening, World!!! I am having very uncomfortable emotions right now in regards to my cat. I am fearful, sad and pretty high anxiety right now. She is not acting like her usual self and not really eating her wet food but at least she is drinking water and nibbling at her dry food. She is also using the litter box. She is a little more lethargic the last two days and it starting to scare me because of lump that is cancerous. Plan is to watch her the next few days and take her to the vet on Tuesday even if she starts getting better because I just want to make sure everything is as okay as it can be health wise with a cancerous lump. I just don’t want put her down but I don’t want her to suffer either. I just love her so much. I hope she knows how much I love her.

Lil Gertie is a special cat for me. She is my emotional support animal (ESA). I thought I would be rescuing her but she did the rescuing of me. I love her so much and hope that she knows that. Lil Gertie was meant for me and I don’t want to loose her too soon but I don’t want her suffer

Like I told you I plan on taking her to my regular vet on Tuesday and get her opinion. Dr. B, the vet Lil Gertie goes to. Dr. B is an amazing vet and tells you like it is in an empathetic and compassionate way. Dr. B really care for the animals she treats as well as the humans. Dr. B is amazing.

I don’t know what else to write due to not wanting to crying. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Peace Out, World!!!

Sad News About My Cat

Hello, World!!! I realize I haven’t blogged in a while. A great deal has happened since I last blogged. Mostly, I have been attending appointments and doing things for work. Nothing really major except when in comes to my cat, Lil Gertie.

Long story short I noticed a lump on my cats, Lil Gertie side. I took her to the vet and they did a test. It turns out that the test says she has cancer. Sadly, the test shows that Lil Gertie’s cancer is the type of cancer that if the lump is removed then it will most certainly grow back. The vet informed me that there is a slim chance the cancer could be another type of cancer but it is unlikely. She suggested I get a biopsy done on Lil Gertie to see how to proceed with treatment. If the results of biopsy confirm what the test say they type of cancer Lil Gertie has then treatment will be more the quality of life than trying to keeping her alive. The vet thinks Lil Gertie has six to twelve months before needing to put her down.  The vet is amazed that Lil Gertie is “doing so well” because she isn’t acting like she is sick. Lil Gertie, my cat, is acting like her usual self. She is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally which is a good sign for both me at the vet. Lil Gertie will have the biopsy in little over a week. I will keep you updated.

The good thing in all this is not only is Lil Gertie acting like her usual self and seeming like she has cancer but I have some major support from my friends. Friends who are amazing and loving. Friends making sure I do some good self care.

The self care I am doing is checking in with friends. I am also burning incense to help me out. I am reading, doing art, spending time with others and going about my normal everyday routine. Most importantly, the best self care is spending time with my cat, Lil Gertie as I know my time is more limited than I thought and hoped it would be. I love my cat, Lil Gertie. I know Lil Gertie loves me unconditionally.

A face only a parent could love. This is one of my favorite pictures of Lil Gertie. I love her facial expressions.

The above picture is one of my favorite pictures of Lil Gertie. I love the many facial expressions she has especially in the above picture. I am planning on printing out the picture above and framing it put it on my wall in my apartment.

I do not have much more to say as I am now in tears again. At least I know Lil Gertie is not suffering at the moment as she is acting like her normal self. Before I end this post I want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things. Thank you again for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Happy Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July, America (and World)!!! Today is Independence Day here in the United States of America. Since it is Independence Day here in the United States which is fondly called the Fourth of July, many people are spending it by celebrating.

For me, celebrating the fourth isn’t what it use to be. Mainly because I worked retail for ten years and I feel like it is too commercialized. Don’t get me wrong I still celebrate it but not like the way I use to especially as a child. Today, I went to a barbecue a friend put on around lunch time. I enjoyed being surrounded by friends and eating food with them for lunch. I was invited to stay but I declined as I had made other plans with some of my neighbors. Neighbors that have become friends. In fact a couple of these neighbors are barbecuing dinner as I write this blog post. I donated meat for this barbecue. After eating we are going to play some board games and then go to the roof of our building to watch the fireworks.

As far as the fireworks go, I don’t think my cat, Lil Gertie, will react to them as she seemed pretty chill last night when someone was light off fireworks in front of our building. I love my cat so much and if I think she would react I would give her some of her anxiety meds. I am grateful that I have had pets throughout my life that didn’t seem to be affected by fireworks. I do know that many pets have issues with the noise as well as the brightness of fireworks. As far as my pet cat, Lil Gertie, I am preparing a “safe place” for her as a precaution. Her safe place is usually my bedroom and bathroom with treats and her favorite toys.

I don’t have much more to say. I should really go and help my neighbors with the barbecue. I want to thank you all for reading my blog as it is greatly appreciated from my end of things. I hope everyone has great day and for those who live in the United States, please enjoy your Fourth of July and stay safe. Again, thank you for reading my blog. You are all awesome in my eyes. Peace Out, World!!!

No Zzz’s In Seattle

Hello, World!!! It is just a few minutes after two in the morning in my corner of the world. I am unable to sleep and it is starting to piss me off. I think it is pissing me off more than usual that I can not sleep because my health insurance company is being a butthead in regards to covering my new sleep med. I don’t think it is too much to ask to look over a piece of paper that was faxed over last week on two different occasions. It is just infuriating as hell when one is waiting on a decision that could effect one’s health and mental health.

On a plus note Lil Gertie successfully took most of her meds to treat her asthma and allergies. Granted it wasn’t the full dose but at least it was most of it. So far she hasn’t had any coughing attacks since taking the meds. I am hoping that the meds are working as I love Lil Gertie. She has become family and I don’t want to loose her. I know asthma is treatable it just worries me.

I know all this worrying isn’t helping with the insomnia and I am hoping that with posting about it, that it could be helpful for me to get some sleep. Sleep that is much needed if I am to remain healthy myself.

I want to thank you for reading my blog. I think I am going to attempt getting some sleep once again. Your readership is greatly appreciated. Peace Out, World!!!

Worries of the Night

Hello, World!!! It is now twelve thirty in the morning in my corner of the world. I am still up due to watching late night television. Late night television helps me deal with life in general especially today. I say this because Lil Gertie has given me a couple of days due some coughing episodes and today’s coughing episodes were scary and worrisome. So, I took her to the vet. The vet diagnosed her with allergies and mild asthma even though the vet didn’t hear wheezing. She determined the mild asthma diagnosis by watching the two videos I took of Lil Gertie’s coughing attacks. The vet, Dr. B, said I did the right thing with the videos.

Another thing that I am worried about is the sleeping meds and my health insurance being slow to approve the pre-authorization for it. It is tough to be dealing with lack of sleep but am grateful for what little sleep I do get especially when I don’t have anything to help with it.

I do not have much more to say. I think I am going try to get some shut eye. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Have a good night. Peace Out, World!!!

A Very Interesting Sleepover

Good Morning, World!!! It sure has been an interesting night in my apartment building. Last night started out very interesting when a neighbor who appeared to be in a mental health crisis started pulling the fire alarm pull stations setting off the building fire alarm on multiple occasions. As time went on a handful of my neighbors and I decided that we would just have a sleepover and my apartment was the chosen apartment. The sleepover included both humans and pets. Both dogs and cats. If fact all the pets are considered emotional support animals. Anyway, the neighbor that decided to pull the fire alarm pull stations did so for about two and a half hours before the police decided to put them on a seventy two hour hold.

After he was finally stopped my neighbors and their animals still stayed over night in my apartment. We had a night full of laughter. Yes, we did get some sleep and all the humans are now awake at six thirty in the morning in my corner of the world. One of my neighbors fixing breakfast. Apparently we are having biscuits and gravy for breakfast. So, I am looking forward to breakfast.

After everyone gets fed my neighbors will go back to their respective apartments. As nice as it was to have people stay the night, I am more than ready to have my own space back and I am sure Lil Gertie, my cat, feels the same way especially since she is not a big cat or dog fan. She did quite well dealing with the other animals last night. She tolerated the situation and I am thrilled she was able to do so.

As everyone leaves I will get ready and go to see my therapist. I can’t wait to see my therapist to explain to him the events of last night.

I don’t have much else to say as I was to spend time with my neighbors. Have a good Friday. Peace, Out, World!!!

Sleepless in Seattle, For Many People

Happy Friday, World!!! Well, not a good start to a Friday for myself and my neighbors as well as our pets which many of the pets are emotional support animals because one of the neighbors is having some major symptoms of their mental health challenge as they keep pulling the pull stations to set off the building fire alarm.

As mentioned in my last post my neighbors and I decided to have a sleep over that includes our pets. Out pets that happen to be emotional support animals. The animals have be quite helpful as well as being able to share a common experience with not being able to sleep due to the fire alarm being continuously set of by someone pulling the pull stations.

The police and the firefighters are just as annoyed as we are. They finally figured out who was pulling the fire alarm pull stations and is sending that neighbor to the hospital to put them on a seventy two hour hold as it is obvious that their mental health challenges are acting up severely.

As far as the sleepover, it is going off well. People and pets are all doing well. It is nice to have neighbors who are going through the same thing to help deal with the stress of the constant pulling of fire alarms. Hopefully it will stop now as the person who was pulling the pull stations are on their way to the hospital to get evaluated to be put on a seventy two hour hold.

I should get going and try to get some sleep as I desperately need it. I hope I am not blogging to much that you my readers are getting bored with what I am writing about. I hope everyone has a good Friday. Peace Out, World!!!

Midnight Randomness

Hello, World!!! I personally think I would be asleep right now if a neighbor who is dealing with the symptoms of their mental health challenges didn’t keep pulling the pull stations to set of the building fire alarm system. It is pissing a lot of people of yet the fire department can’t do much about it and the police are trying to put the neighbor on a seventy two hour hold.

As annoying as the fire alarm going off constantly, my neighbors are getting together and making an annoying situation into a good situation. The noise may be bothersome to us humans but its worse for our animals. So, one of my neighbors and I decided to get a handful of other neighbors to come to my apartment and have a sleepover. Humans and animals are all invited. Thankfully, the neighbors that are staying over are good friends. Most importantly the animals are getting along which is surprising because a couple of animals including my cat really don’t get along with other animals. Maybe it’s because the animals involved with the sleepover are all emotional support animals and are putting their issues aside to help us humans.

As far as my cat, Lil Gertie, she is staying close to me because the constant going off of the fire alarm is quite anxiety for me. I am proud of Lil Gertie for putting up with so many people in my apartment and most importantly tolerating the other animals staying overnight. She is extremely being tolerant of the sixth month old puppy who wants to play with her.

On a side note, I have an appointment with my therapist later today since it is officially Friday since it is now twelve midnight in my corner of the world. I sure will have a story to tell regarding the fire alarm constantly going off and having a sleepover with neighbors and their animals at my place. I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of how we decided to make a difficult situation into a positive situation. I am looking forward my session with my therapist later on today.

Thank you again, for reading my blog. It is very much appreciated. I am trying to mix things up when it comes to the topics I discuss with you. I am hoping that the more I mix things up sharing my story with you that it will keep you all interested in reading my blog. I hope everyone gets a good nights sleep or at least a better nights sleep than myself an neighbors are getting. I really need to get going now because the fire alarm is going off again and would still be posting about the issue but I need to evacuate since the fire alarm is going off once again. Have a good nights sleep. Peace out, World!!!

Annoyance of the Fire Alarms Being Pulled For No Reason

Good Evening, World. Well it’s late evening and one of my neighbors is thinking it will be fun to annoy their neighbors and their pets by pulling the pull stations to set off the building fire alarm.

As it wasn’t annoying enough that the management company did fire alarm testing earlier today which freaked me out but freaked out my cat, Lil Gertie. I don’t need my poor cat in distress again do to some idiot of a neighbor who wants to play a prank by continuously pulling the fire alarm pull stations. It’s not making very many people very happy with the person.

On a plus note my neighbors and I planning on making the best of the situation. We don’t know what the best is going to be yet as it is still in the works. I just know plans are in the works to make a bad situation into a good situation.

On a side note the police and firefighters are getting a little annoyed with having to keep coming out due to someone pulling the fire alarm pull stations just for fun. I don’t think its fun nor funny when it triggers me and freaks out my poor cat, Lil Gertie.

I should get going and help plan with my neighbors on what we plan on doing to help settle our nerves and anxieties with the frequent fire alarms going off.

Thank you for reading my blog. It is much appreciated. I hope everyone gets a good night sleep. Have a good night. Peace Out, World!!!
