Weekly Check-In

Good Evening, World!!! I know it has been a while since I have done a weekly check-in and am going to keep doing it even if I miss a few weeks. This week has been an okay week and considering some worrying news, I am not freaking out about it.

Let’s just start off with worrying news I received. Long story short got blood work done for my cat, Billie Dean and his kidney numbers are not where they need to be. Billie’s vet, Dr. B, informed me by telling me: “Yes, it is concerning however we caught it in time. Nothing to worry about but if I weren’t a vet, I would be worried as well. You are being a great cat parent as many people wait to do bloodwork till the vet requires it. Billie is doing great and is still a lovebug.” Billie is now on a special diet for his kidney’s. I’m glad I decided to get blood work done for him when he got his teeth cleaned and followed up with a second round of bloodwork. Catching it early helps ease my mind as I know Billie is now getting the proper treatment and as stressful as it is, I am not freaking out about it.

Speaking of stress, I am taking a continuing education class in stress management. I’m not only taking to learn more about stress management to handle stress but help with my career as a peer specialist. I am learning so much in this stress management class and it is already benefitting me at work and helping me help the clients I serve.

Speaking of work, I am loving my job. I am now on the training committee and I have only been at my new job for two months. Apparently, I am doing something right even though it feel like I am not half of the time. I have also been informed that I “impressed” the clinical supervisors because of being able to use crisis de-escalation skills. I wasn’t trying to impress anyone and just being myself with getting clients out of crisis.

I don’t have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace, Out, World!!!

Weekly Check-In

Good Evening, World!!! This week has been quite an emotional week here in America. An emotional week regarding the political environment and tensions are extremely high at the moment. Sadly, supporters of a certain candidate breached the Capital Building for the first time over two hundred years. These people even made their way to the House and Senate Chambers. Many Americans are extremely angered by this including me. It angered me personally because if it was a group of people who are of color, there would have been more of a police presence. The other thing that angers me as well as the President of the United States was the one that egged this group of people on. The events of what happened at the United States Capital was just fucking uncalled for.

The events of what happened politically happened the same day my cat, Billie Dean went to the vet for some dental cared. The good news is that Billie didn’t need his two canine teeth pulled. The worrisome news is that his kidney level numbers are slightly elevated. The vet said that it is nothing to worry about at the moment and that getting another blood test done in about six weeks to see where the levels are at is what is needed. The vet said if the numbers stay the same or get lower then the only thing that is needed is blood work every six months to make sure Billie’s kidney levels are not increasing and this is my hope of what happens. If the next blood test show that Billie’s kidney levels do increase then he will need to be on a special prescription kidney diet. This is why I asked Billie’s vet to do blood work on Billie since he was already getting dental work done so I can see where his baseline is or if something did come like it did then we can get it under control sooner than later. Billie’s vet likes the fact that I am being proactive about his health care especially once Billie is eight years old, he will be getting routine blood work done as he will be considered a senior. On that note Billie isn’t even seven yet. He will be seven in late March. I am happy that I am being proactive in my cat, Billie’s health as he is my baby and I love him so very much.

On top of what went on this week regarding the political unrest and my cat, Billie going to the vet this was my first full forty hour work week at my new employer. It was quite a week at work for many reasons. Yes, it was challenging and it wore me out but I love my new job. I am so happy that I have this job opportunity as I am really enjoying this job.

I also had therapy this week and it went well. My therapist and I discussed the new job, the holidays and a few other things including self care. We discussed self care because he wants to make sure I am doing it so my mental health doesn’t decline. I appreciate this as I also don’t want my mental health to decline. Self care is a major part of staying healthy. I am happy that my therapist and I discussed self care as it helped me focus on what I need to do for self care.

One of the things that came to mind for self care was writing and poetry which led me to starting the WordPress course of Intro to Poetry earlier today. Read and writing poetry is a major form of self care for me so that is why I started this course. It is a ten day course about writing poetry. It helps me be creative. It helps keep my mental health challenges in check which is why it is a form of self care for me.

I don’t have much more to say in this weeks, Weekly Check In. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has a great day as well as an awesome weekend. Peace Out, World!!!

Anxiety Over Billie’s Vet Visit

Good Evening, World!!! It’s another rainy Tuesday evening in Seattle. I have been off work from my new job for nearly an hour now. I absolutely love my new job and am thrilled that I decided to take this job.

Right now I am extremely anxious about my cat, Billie Dean’s veterinarian appointment tomorrow. He is having dental work done. Specifically, Billie will be having two teeth extracted and a teeth cleaning. I know it is routine and nothing to worry about but I am still anxious about it. The vet Billie goes to is just an amazing veterinarian and awesome human being. Sadly, due to the dental procedure Billie is having tomorrow he is now officially on a fast. Billie is not happy with me because he currently cannot have food. Even though Billie is a cat he is giving me the puppy dog look for food. Poor little dude. I love Billie so much.

I do not have much more to say in this particular blog post. I just want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my perspective that you read my blog. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Have a great evening. Peace Out, World!!!

Update on Life the Last 24 Hours

Good Afternoon, World!!! I just want to update on life in the last twenty-four hours. First lets start off with my job interview yesterday. Overall, I think it went quite well. There were many awkward moments in the interview but went well. If I get the job, I will like the schedule for the most part. I will have to change some things with my volunteer job but it is workable. Even though the interview went well, I am not holding my breath that I will get the job. I just do not want to get my hopes up too high.

Now back to a couple of hours ago. I took my cat, Billie Dean, into the vet. Don’t worry Billie is just fine and dandy. He went to the vet to get his nails trimmed. It took longer than usual because the vet techs and vet wanted some cuddle time with Billie. The vet even took two dollars off the bill for letting her and her vet techs have cuddle time with my “love bug.” I cannot deny that Billie is a “love bug.”

Now on to a previous post in the last few days about me taking a couple of courses WordPress does for free. I signed up for the courses a couple of days ago and have assignments that I will start on tonight. I will be posting those assignments starting tomorrow. The courses I am taking our: Writing: Intro to Poetry and Photography: Developing Your Eye I. I have done both of these course before and loved them. So I am doing them again. Plus, I feel like if I do these courses again they will be of help to me to blog on the more regular basis. I want to blog on the regular basis to keep you my followers and regular readers engaged.

I do not have much more to discuss in this particular blog post. I want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has a great rest of your Thursday. Peace Out, World!!!

Meet Billie Dean

Good Evening, World!!! I wanted to let you know that I adopted a new kitty this past Thursday (February, 6th). His name is Billie Dean. He is five years old and will be six years old at the end of March. His age is just a guesstimate and the vet has agree with what the animal shelter said in regards to his age. Billie Dean is a whopping 14 pounds. He is a big boy. I am going to include pictures and add caption’s to it. I hope for those sight impaired that WordPress allows the your software to read the captions.

I love my new kitty and hope you have enjoyed meeting him. I hope to share more pictures in future post. Billie Dean also is a very talkative cat who loves to lay in your lap. Yes, I greatly miss my last cat, Lil Gertie but I am sure she was of help with adopting Billie Dean.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things. Again thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Have a wonderful Sunday evening. Peace Out, World!!!

Missing My Cat, Lil Gertie

Hello, World!!! It has been a week and one day since my cat, Lil Gertie crossed the rainbow bridge. It hasn’t been an eight days but I have received a great deal of support from my friends. I have amazing friends and have received many sympathy cards from them. Speaking of sympathy cards, Lil Gertie’s vet sent one even though she was not the vet who helped Lil Gertie cross over the rainbow bridge. She not only received an email from me but Lil Gertie’s records from the emergency vet.

I just wish it wasn’t so difficult but I am grateful she was in my life. Lil Gertie has helped me a great deal with my recovery and I am forever grateful to her for that. I will never forget her. To honor her in this post I will include one of my favorite pictures of her below. It shows how expressive she was. The picture is below:

In honor of Lil Gertie. This picture is one of my favorite and is a prime example of her many facial expressions.

Now, that I have honored my beloved cat, Lil Gertie, I am going to finish this post. I want to thank you all for reading my blog. I greatly appreciated each one of you for reading my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend. Have a great Friday. Peace Out, World!!!

The Post I’ve Been Dreading to Write

Good Morning, World!!! I have been dreading about writing this post for the last week as it is sad and devastating news or at least it is devastating for me. As many of you may know if you read a post a few months ago that my cat, Lil Gertie, was diagnosed with cancer. I knew there was a chance of helping her cross the rainbow bridge but I didn’t think it would be so soon. See, on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 28th, 2019) evening Lil Gertie crossed the rainbow bridge.

Like most everyone else across the United States I was celebrating Thanksgiving with my family. I went and spent the day with family. When I arrived back home Thanksgiving Day evening, I noticed Lil Gertie walking funny, with her head tilted and walking into things. I quickly realized I would need to take her to the emergency vet and most likely have to say goodbye. Before taking her to the emergency vet, I decided to feed her some turkey which she gobbled down and that made my heart happy.

The happy heart didn’t last very long as I knew what the reality was so I took her to the emergency vet. The emergency vet did in fact confirm that it was Lil Gertie’s time to cross the rainbow bridge. Sadly, while I was eating Thanksgiving dinner with my family Lil Gertie had a small stroke. Due to the stroke both of Lil Gertie’s retina’s detached which is why she was walking into things. Since she was unable to see, plus the stroke and cancer I knew I couldn’t bear to see Lil Gertie struggle, I knew it was time to let her go and cross the rainbow bridge. I was able to be with Lil Gertie as she crossed over with the help of the vet. I miss my cat so very much.

I did decide that I wanted Lil Gertie’s ashes and will be getting them in a couple of weeks along with a paw print and clump of her fur. The emergency vet also let Lil Gertie’s regular vet know. Lil Gertie’s vet reached out to me the past Monday (December 2nd) when she returned to the office after the holiday weekend. Lil Gertie’s vet was and is extremely empathetic and compassionate. She even sent me a sympathy card which I received yesterday (Tuesday) in the mail. Part of the reason I decided to keep Lil Gertie’s ashes as I know it will help with my healing process.

Speaking of the healing process I think that is why I waited so long to write this post. Yes, I realize tomorrow will mark a week since Lil Gertie crossed the rainbow bridge but it just stung too much. Hell, it still stings like hell.

As people in my life have been finding out about Lil Gertie and many know she was an Emotional Support Animal (ESA), I have been asked if I am going to get another cat. The answer is, YES but I am going to wait till after the holidays for many reasons. One of which is I want to give myself some time to grieve. I wish I had more time with Lil Gertie because I only had her for 1 1/2 years and she was only 7 1/2 years old but I know she accomplished what she needed to accomplish here on earth and it was her time to go.

I do not have much more to say. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things. Again, thank you from the bottom of heart for reading my blog. I hope to post pictures of Lil Gertie in a later post. I hope everyone has a great day. I also hope you all have a great holiday season. Peace Out, World!!!

Feeling Sad & Trying to Not Overreact or Be a Drama Queen

Good Evening, World!!! I am having very uncomfortable emotions right now in regards to my cat. I am fearful, sad and pretty high anxiety right now. She is not acting like her usual self and not really eating her wet food but at least she is drinking water and nibbling at her dry food. She is also using the litter box. She is a little more lethargic the last two days and it starting to scare me because of lump that is cancerous. Plan is to watch her the next few days and take her to the vet on Tuesday even if she starts getting better because I just want to make sure everything is as okay as it can be health wise with a cancerous lump. I just don’t want put her down but I don’t want her to suffer either. I just love her so much. I hope she knows how much I love her.

Lil Gertie is a special cat for me. She is my emotional support animal (ESA). I thought I would be rescuing her but she did the rescuing of me. I love her so much and hope that she knows that. Lil Gertie was meant for me and I don’t want to loose her too soon but I don’t want her suffer

Like I told you I plan on taking her to my regular vet on Tuesday and get her opinion. Dr. B, the vet Lil Gertie goes to. Dr. B is an amazing vet and tells you like it is in an empathetic and compassionate way. Dr. B really care for the animals she treats as well as the humans. Dr. B is amazing.

I don’t know what else to write due to not wanting to crying. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Peace Out, World!!!
