Overall A Good Vacation Despite the Unknown of my Lay Off Date

Good Morning, World!!! Despite finding out that my employer will be going our of business a week before my vacations and six days before my 43rd birthday, I had a good vacation and birthday. Granted it could have been better, I didn’t let it get me down.

I did not let it get it down because I had the love and support from friends, family, colleagues and of course my cat Billie Dean. I enjoyed my time in Bremerton and knowing that I have people and cats on my side supporting me. I am grateful that I had a vacation. I think I needed it so I can be the be I can be for my clients and my colleagues.

I don’t have much more to say in thing particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It it greatly appreciated that you the reader, read my blog. If it was not for you reading my blog, I would not be writing my blog. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Good Evening, World!!!! It has been a week and two days since I last blogged. I found out that my employer will be no longer a mental health agency much longer. The board let us know on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. It came to a surprise to everyone including to the CEO. Needless to say we are all going through grief especially for our clients. I am still in shock one week and two days later. On top of that I found out six days before my birthday and my vacation.

On to the gratitude part of this post is at least I’ve had the support of my friends, family and colleague who have become family. I think all this has brought my colleagues closer together. As far as the clients go most of them are taking better than I thought they would. I am grateful for my colleagues and clients. They are the reason I do what I do and be a peer support specialist. I will miss working with my clients and colleagues. Oh, the supervisors are amazing.

I do not not have much more to say in this blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. If it was not for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be writing my blog. Again thank you from the bottom of my reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end. Peace Out, World!!!

Before Going into the Office Post

Happy Friday, Morning, World!!! As much as I really don’t want to work today, I am looking forward to it. In fact Fridays is one of the days I actually work from the actual office and not from home. There are pros and cons from working from both the office and from home.

The plus side of working from the office is that it appears that I am more productive. Another plus to working in the office is I get to see a half dozen or so colleagues in person. Plus, the cool thing is I get to have a couple of in person sessions with clients.

As far as working as working from home I enjoy it but sadly, I am not as productive. I do have to say working from home remotely has made my colleagues and I more closer as co-workers because we make an effort to have “get togethers” even if its only once or twice a week via Zoom after work hours. I another reason why I like working from home is I get to sleep in a bit longer and wear comfortable clothing from the waist down. My “professional” clothing is mostly comfortable. The best part from working from home is have my cat be my colleague. With that being said, my cat, Billie Dean, is sometimes the reason why I get so distracted working from home. Another plus is if I’m working from home and having a virtual appointment, sometimes my cat makes an appearance which helps build a positive rapport with clients.

Even though I haven’t met all my colleagues in person yet, I am grateful that I have become friends with them. In fact I have become close friends with three of my colleagues which is cool. I love the people I work with and love my job.

I have to get going and finish getting ready for work since I go into the office today which is why I don’t have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you the reader, read my blog. If it wasn’t for you the reader, reading my blog I would not be writing my blog. I hope everyone has a beyond awesome weekend ahead of you. Happy Friday and Peace Out, World!!!

Taking the First Two Hours Off of Work

Good Morning, once again, World!!! This should be a relatively short post. I am taking my first two hours of my work shift off due to the reasons why I need some extra sleep. I am a little pissed that I have to do this but I need the sleep yet I need to do much needed notes but at least I have time to do notes this afternoon. I just want to make sure I see my clients. They are the important part of my job. The supervisors all contacted be back “thanking” me for being so “on top of things.” I’m only doing my job. I just want to make sure I am present with my clients and not a cranky bucket.

I wish my neighbors would realize that their actions affect everyone in the apartment building. Some of us do have jobs and most of have us have a mental health issue and or addiction issue. It is something I am going to have to radically accept from DBT. Thankfully my cat has been helpful with emotional ups and downs or the morning.

I don’t have much more to say except thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated. I hope you have a great Wednesday ahead of you. Peace Out World!!!

Middle of Day Check-In While Working

Good Afternoon, World!!! I am taking a few minutes of my time while work to write this particular blog post. I am just taking time to check-in about my day. I have been feeling a little blah but I think it’s because I am tired. Work is going well today. Going by more quickly than I thought it would.

I am working from home today and there are some benefits of working from home. One of those benefits is that I get to be home with my cat, Billie Dean. I love the fact that Billie keep me company when I am working from home. Another benefit of working from home is being able to write a blog post if I want when I have a spare few minutes.

Anyway, I ordered food through Grubhub for my lunch which should arrive at around one o’clock in the afternoon; Seattle time. I ordered a salad with ranch dressing and I am getting strawberry shortcake for dessert. I am looking forward for my lunch today.

I should really end this particular blog post as I have a couple of books that I am reading that will help me with my job as well as my personal life. I just let my work know that it is work related and let them know what the books are and they “approve” that it is work related. I am really enjoying the books that I am reading for “work.”

On that note, I need to end this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you do read my blog. If it wasn’t for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Short Post Before Work

Good Morning, World!!! I just wanted say a quick hi before I start my work day. I am grateful to have job that I love most days. Anyway, today is going to be a good day. A good day because I am booked with clients as well as having time to read some books that are job related that can also be related to my personal life as well but that is an entirely other post. I love the career that I have.

I told you it would be a short post before work as I do not have much more to say. I do want tot thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you do read my blog. If it wasn’t for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Everyday Inspiration; Day 5: Hook ‘Em With a Quote

The future belongs to those who believe the beauty of their dreams.

Eleanor Roosevelt

I’ve chosen this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt because it has helped me a great deal with figuring out what my dreams are as well as being able to accomplish my dreams. In my case my the dreams I am thinking about are around my career. My career of being a peer support specialist also known as a peer counselor. This quote has helped me believe in myself that I can do anything including being able to be in recovery with my mental health challenges. Being in recovery means I am able to succeed in whatever I want to succeed in which includes my job. I love my job with a passion and am beyond grateful for Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 5: Hook ‘Em With a Quote

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

The above quote from Eleanor Roosevelt has always given me hope. It has given me hope in many ways especially along my career path. My career path of being a peer support specialist. Knowing that I want to help people with their recovery helps me help myself with my own recovery. Recovery and knowing my dreams helps me know the beauty life has for me.

Intro to Poetry; Day 6: Screens

Damn You, Covid-19

by Gertie

Staring at a computer screen all day give me a headache

but the headache is well worth it as it is

because I love my new job more than I realize.

A job that is helping me along my career path even though staring at a

computer screen all day isn’t the most fun thing in the world to do.

I don’t blame my career choice for me staring at the computer

all day; I blame this stupid ass

pandemic known as Covid-19.

If Covid-19 didn’t happen, meeting clients in person;

face to face would be happing and not having to do

virtual appointment would be ideal to not having to stare a stupid computer screen

all day.

Damn you Covid-19, you are causing me to get migraines due to

staring at a computer screen all day;

just to help my clients.

The migraines are well worth it though as

helping my clients is the best feeling in the world.

A Season of Change

Happy Holidays, World!!! It has been six weeks since my last blog. I do not have an excuse to why have not blogged in the last month and a half. It was just pure laziness. It is my hope that I will start doing what I did on several different occasions. In fact I hope to restart my plans for blogging this Sunday, December 13th. I plan on starting my “Weekly Plans” post this Sunday. Starting, Saturday, December 19th, I plan on doing my “Weekly Check-In” post. Part of the reason why I stopped these post was because of my current job schedule but thankfully, I will be able to start them back up.

The reason why I will be able to start them back up is because tomorrow (Saturday) night will my last shift at my current employer. I put in my notice because, I will be starting a new job on Wednesday, December 16th as a Peer Specialist. It is a fulltime office job. It Monday through Friday during typical office hours. I am having some pretty high anxiety with starting a new job especially since it is fulltime. I know I will do okay with it but I am still anxious as hell.

Another reason why I am so nervous is because of my cat, Billie Dean. Billie is use to me being gone for work once a week for about fourteen hours as well as a once week volunteer shift for about four hours. Now, Billie will deal with me being gone for about ten hours a day for five days a week. Plus, one day week I will gone for about four hours due to volunteering. Billie is a real lovey dovey type of cat that wants his person home as much as possible so I worry about possible separation anxiety on his part. On a plus note, I will be able to work from home about half the time so I am sure this will help Billie the Cat get adjusted to my new work schedule. I love my cat so much and don’t want to put him in any type of stress.

I don’t have much more to say. I do want to thank you all for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you do read my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Have a great evening world. Peace Out, World!!!
