Everyday Inspiration; Day 3: One-Word Inspiration

HOME

Home is where the heart is or at least that is how the saying goes. I don’t know how exactly true it is as if home is where the heart is then I guess I have lots of homes. I am not exactly going to discuss home is where the heart is in this post or last that is not what my plan is.

For me my current home is home to me. Home is currently in Seattle where I live in an apartment that is the longest place I have lived as an adult. Home is also where my beloved cat, Billie Dean, resides with me. So, I guess, for me home is where my cat, Billie is. Coming home to Billie is where the love is. I guess for me home isn’t just where I get the unconditional love from Billie is but a place that I created to be a home that is full of memories of homes past which is why my home is my home.

Lunch Time Ramblings

Good Afternoon, World!!! It is currently my lunch time. I’m not feel so good. I think part of the reason why I am not feeling all that well is because, I didn’t sleep very well due to insomnia. I guess, one of the positive things about working from home is being able to take a nap when everything you have to do is all caught up.

Before taking a nap, I need to eat. I need to eat something so I can be less cranky for my next appointment with a client at 2:00pm. Although it is challenging to be cranky with my next client I want to make sure I eat so I am not cranky.

In fact I am waiting for my food right now. I am getting some Taco Bell. I am getting two burrito supremes with extra sour cream and extra cheese. I know what I am getting isn’t the healthiest of foods but at least I am eatting.

The best part of today is that I don’t have a peer meeting I need to attend as it is cancelled. That means I get to make sure all my notes and other paperwork is caught up. If it is caught up I get to get off early. Getting off early when you’re working from home means closing the work computer and turning on the television or turning on a podcast. Or in todays menu of options a nap. Not sure which option I will choose but I know I will figure it out before I am off for the day.

On that note, I don’t have much more to say except that I love being able to work at home because I get to spend more time with my cat, Billie Dean. Oh how I love Billie. Now I don’t have much more to say. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is much appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. If it weren’t for you my reader, I wouldn’t be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

The Start of Another Day

Good Morning, World!!! It is the start of another day for me. Or maybe I should say that in less than an hour I will be starting work at a job that I love. I love my current job so much that I am willing to work being way too tired to function or that is how it feels at the moment.

I didn’t sleep very well again last night. At least the lack of sleep wasn’t due to a neighbor pulling the building fire alarm for stupid reasons. I couldn’t sleep due to the not so lovely thing called insomnia. I am not a big fan of having insomnia.

Despite not sleeping due to insomnia, I actually fixed breakfast for myself. I made myself French toast, scrambled eggs and chocolate milk. It was a tasty breakfast. I did find out that my cat, Billie Dean, loves scrambled eggs. I had to hurry up and eat my scrambled eggs or Billie would have eaten them for me.

I now have to get ready for work by putting on a nice shirt since I work from home on Wednesdays. So, if I feel like it, I can wear pajama pants to “work” when I work from home. Most of the time I do since I wear a nice shirt. When I do work from the office I wear nice pants and not pajama pants.

I do not have much more to say in this blog post except that I am glad it is Wednesday and the week is half over. I also want to think you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. If it wasn’t for you reading my blog, I wouldn’t be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Working from Home Ramblings With Nothing to Do

Good Afternoon, World!!! Today is one of my days I work from home as well as a late start work day. Late start work day means I start work at twelve noon and get off work at eight in the evening. It’s cool that I am able to do this for two of my five shifts at work. In fact that other day I have this shift is on Mondays. So, I get to sleep in on Mondays and Tuesdays which is awesome.

I don’t have much to do work wise as the staff meeting was cancelled and I only have once client scheduled today. That client is scheduled for later this afternoon. I am all caught up on my paperwork and am just waiting for various places such as Social Security and housing programs to call me back regarding clients. So I am playing the waiting game as well as the phone tag game. Not the most fun part of the job but hey at least I have a job that I enjoy and love most of the time.

Since I have a whole lot of nothing going on regarding work, I have been thinking about blogging and how I can make sure I am more consistent with blogging. I want to blog on the more regular basis. That means making sure I start doing my weekly check-ins on Saturday evenings and my weekly plans on Sunday mornings. That way I am not leaving you my reader hanging and I am at least keeping you somewhat interested in continuing you read my blog.

Another way I am thinking about keeping you my reader my engaged is doing one of the free courses that WordPress puts on to help people improve their blogging skills. Not only do I think it helps with improving blogging skills, I think it help me as a blogger to keep you my reader engaged and interested in my blog.

I do not have much more to say in this particular blog post as my cat, Billie Dean, is wanting some attention. I would love to give Billie some attention so I am going to end this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog as if it weren’t for you reading, I wouldn’t be writing on my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Dinner Time

Hello, World!!! It is that time of day where I need to eat something. It is also that time of day where it is my hour break from work. That means it is my dinner time as I work from 12:00pm to 8:00pm on Mondays. In fact I work from home on Mondays which makes it easy for dinner time.

I am going to have some leftover fettuccini alfredo with mushrooms and tabasco sauce. I love my food with spice which is why I put tabasco sauce on just about everything. I know it is weird but I don’t care what others think about it.

Working from home like today has its advantages. One of those advantages is being able to eat my work meal at home. Another advantage of working from home is being able to be with my cat, Billie Dean. Being able to have Billie on my lap when I am in session with a client is helpful for both me and my clients.

I better get going so I can actually eat my dinner. I want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. Without you my reader I wouldn’t be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

The Start of Another Work Week

Happy Monday, World!!! It is the start of another work week. It being the start of another work week, that means I am at home. I work from home four of five days a week due to the pandemic known as Covid-19. Working from home has both it’s advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is I get to be with my cat all day. One of this disadvantages is dealing with neighbors who yell at each in the middle of the hall way which my clients can hear when I am doing a virtual session with them. Sadly, there is nothing I can do about this. On a positive note I can be an example on how to handle distressing situations.

My work is having us do SMART goals to be able to accomplish at work that is work related. My goal is to start an in person group when I am in the office on Fridays. It will be a group that is focused on mindfulness and mindful meditation. I am looking forward to doing this group as I feel that a mindfulness group can help others with their recovery. Being able to help others with their recovery which is why I am a peer counselor. I know what it is like to figure out what recovery looks like for me and mindfulness is what helped me realize that. So, I hope mindfulness can help others on their recovery journey. A journey that looks different for each person.

I do not have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you do read my blog. Again, if it wasn’t for you my reader, reading my blog, I wouldn’t be blogging. I hope everyone has an awesome work week ahead of them. Peace Out, World!!!

Today’s Weather Fits My Mood

Good Morning, World!!! I realize it has been quite awhile since I last blogged. I can come up with a million excuses. Some of which are legit excuses however I’m not going to use them as I know I can make time to blog. I know I can make time to blog as I have done it before.

Enough of me talking about blogging and making time for it. Time to discuss how I am currently feeling. I am depressed. I am not one hundred percent sure why I am currently depressed but I know I will get through this as I have done it before in the past. Being depressed suck but at least the current weather here in Seattle fits my mood.

The weather in Seattle is a bit on the dreary side. It is grey, slightly sprinkling with a breeze which is a typical Seattle day or at least for this time of year as well as early autumn. As much as I am not a fan of current weather, I am grateful for it because it fits my mood as well as it makes it easier to work from home.

Working from home isn’t all that easy especially when it is nice outside. Working from home has it’s pro’s and con’s. One con is that I get distracted easier which is why I am currently blogging. One of the pro’s to working from home is I get to sleep in. Another pro is I get to spend time with my cat, Billie Dean. Having Billie as a colleague is great for my morale.

Speaking of cats, I am going to be volunteering at PAWS Cat City today after work. I am looking forward to it especially after a tough week at work. I’m not at liberty to say due to HIPAA laws but doing a volunteer shift I typically don’t do will help with the depression and tough week. I love my volunteer job and spending time with cats that will be getting a new home.

Before I end this particular blog post, I was finally assigned a new therapist at the community mental health agency I am a client of. I met with her on Tuesday. She appears to be nice. She has some awesome tattoo’s. I hope she will be good and able to help me. I will have therapy with her every two weeks which is a good thing.

I don’t have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciative from my end of things that you read my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Happy Friday and Peace Out World!!!

Weekly Check-In

This past week has been quite a week. Overall, it has been a good one with a couple of not so good moments. Moments, I will get through with the help of friends, family and colleagues as well my cat Billie Dean.

The week started out with my birthday and being able to celebrate it with friend and family. I celebrated my birthday with both sides if my family. I first celebrated with my dad’s side of the family here in Seattle. I then traveled to Olympia to celebrate with my mom’s side of the family.

As I spent time in Olympia, my grandpa took care of my cat Billie Dean at his home in the Seattle area. I really missed be with Billie but I enjoyed my time with my mom and uncle as well as a couple of friends who live in the Olympia area.

The best part of my birthday was that I started the first step of the twelve step program I am in. I am slowly working on the first step. I wish it wasn’t taking as long as I had hope it was. I am grateful to be working on the twelve steps.

I am grateful to be home from Olympia and I think my cat Billie is glad to be home from my grandpa’s. Hell, we are both happy to be home together. I did end up having some health issues. I had a migraine and had to to take an expected day off of from work yesterday. All I can say is migraines suck shit.

My supervisor did check in with me yesterday as she thought I took yesterday off due to being bullied by a colleague. I assured my supervisor that I was not taking it off due to bullying that I was taking it off due to a migraine. My supervisor is just an amazing person. Even though someone at work is bullying me, I am grateful that my supervisor and colleagues are supportive of me.

I don’t have much more to say in this particular weekly check in. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you do read my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

There’s No Place Like Home

Good Evening, World!!! I had an awesome four day birthday weekend. I spent time with both sides of my family and am beyond grateful for my decision. As much as I am glad I went to Olympia to visit my mom and uncle my birthday, I am happy to be home.

Last Friday, I celebrated my birthday with my dad, grandpa and two uncles as well as my cat, Billie Dean. I took Billie to my grandpa’s house as I went out of town for a few days. I am beyond grateful that my grandpa took care of my cat, Billie. Anyway, I had a great time with my dad’s side of the family and had some awesome barbeque ribs.

After an awesome dinner I came home and packed to go to Olympia via train while my cat Billie stayed with my grandpa. I went to Olympia on Saturday via train. I love taking the train and enjoy myself every time I take a train.

When I arrived in Olympia a friend of mine picked me up and we went out for dinner after I checked into my hotel room. We went to Carl’s Jr. for dinner as we don’t have one here in Seattle. I love Carl’s Jr. as I went there all the time when I grew up in California. After eating Carl’s Jr. with my friend we went to Priest Point Park and hike around the park. I love that park. After hiking around the park for a while my friend dropped me off at the hotel.

On Sunday which was my birthday I took a walk with a friend around Capital Lake. It was great to walk around the lake with a friend. After the walk my mom and uncle to me out to dinner at Red Robin’s I love Robin’s. I had my normal meal of a Whisky River Barbeque Burger with extra cheese and onion straws.

On Monday, I took time to myself and just hung out around Downtown Olympia as well as in my hotel room. I just needed a day to myself and am beyond grateful that I took a me day for my birthday weekend.

I came back home to Seattle, yesterday via train. I am so happy to be home. My grandpa dropped off my cat, Billie Dean once I got home. Billie is just as happy to be home as I am. There is no place like home. I love my cat Billie and love being home with him around. I think Billie is grateful to both being home and to be around me. We are both happy to be home with each other.

I do not have much more to say in the particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. Again, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Intro to Poetry; Day 9: Landscape

Untitled Poem

by Gertie

Looking out the window all you see

is an on ramp to a major interstate freeway

and tents.

Tents of those who are homeless.

It’s heartbreaking and brings tears to ones

eyes

yet a sense of gratitude arises.

A sense of gratitude for having a roof over ones head.

Living across the street from

a freeway on ramp

isn’t ideal

but the gratitude of having a home is well

worth it.
