Everyday Inspiration; Day 7: Let Social Media Inspire You

Today’s assignment is to let social media inspire me. They gave some tweets we could use but I’m going to use social media as whole as my inspiration. I say this because social media can play a role in people mental health and well my blog is a mental health blog. I feel like if I don’t discuss how social media can affect one’s mental health then I would be doing my readers a disservice.

One can argue that social media could be helpful and it is. One can also say that social media is not helpful which is also true. I know from my experience it is combination of both. I just have to be watchful of my time on social media including me blogging. So, I guess what I am saying about mental health and social media is watch how it affects you.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 6: A Space To Write

For me having a space a good place to write also depends on the head space I am in at the moment. As of lately, I’ve been in a head space to where writing has been quite helpful for me.

When I am at hope I like to write facing my west living room window so I can look up and see the trees outside of my window. This helps me when I’m having trouble coming up with words to help me convey with what I want to say. The words someone says or writes can bring a person down or lift a person up. For me I hope that I lift folks up with what I say and write.

I say this because I’ve had harsh words said to me. Words that had me thinking about dying by suicide. (No, I’m NOT currently suicidal.) When I talk and/or write, I want to make sure my words don’t have others thinking about death by suicide.

For me the space to write all depends on my head space and is different every time I write. I like to write by water no matter my head space however that can be dependent on the weather if I write outside. I also like to write in mom and pop coffee shops. It helps with my creativity.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 5: Hook ‘Em With a Quote

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. - Eleanor Roosevelt

The above quote by Eleanor Roosevelt “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” hits close to home for me. It hits close to home because I am in the process of believing that my dreams will come true. Dreams that will come true with hope and determination. Determination that has helped with my recovery process will help me with my dreams and future.

A future that includes me having a college education that allows me to move up the career ladder. One that will allow me to be much more than a Peer Specialist. One that will allow me to be a Case Manager and/or Therapist. This is why I believe in my dreams. Dreams that I know will come true even if it takes me longer than the average person.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 4: A Story in a Single Image

As this woman walks through the woods I cant help but thinks about the peace it can bring her. If it brings me peace, I am sure it brings her peace. A peace that only nature can bring. A peace and contentment that can give one hope and inspiration. A hope that can change the world. A change in the world that will inspire others and give them hope. A hope that is being set by example. An example of hope all because of a walk in the woods.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 3: One Word Inspiration

Hope

Hope is something that is needed to be in recovery. If it weren’t for hope I wouldn’t be in recovery and I don’t think I would be writing this blog. The reason being is I think if it weren’t for the hope I have I would have died by suicide. I wrote a poem on hope.

Hope is something

One must desire. With hope recovery is

Possible. It’s possible for

Everyone even if they believe they are too far gone.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 2: Write A List

Things I’ve Learned in My Recovery…

  • I’m resilient.
  • I’m stronger than I think I am.
  • There will be bumps in the road.
  • Its okay to do self care.
  • I don’t have to be perfect.
  • When life gives you lemons eat them (or make lemonade), just don’t throw them.
  • Life is worth living even when its painful.
  • The pain won’t last even though it feels like it.
  • Its okay to hit a pillow or stuffed animal but not a brick wall.
  • Giving up is not an option.
  • Recovery is more fun.
  • I always have a choice.

Everyday Inspiration; Day 1: Why I Write

Good Afternoon, World!!! I write for a multiple reasons. Reasons, I had planned to write about and reasons that were unexpected.

Let’s start by why I started my blog. I started my blog for two main reasons. The first reason was to help educate people who don’t have lived experience that folks like myself who do have lived experience can live a productive life. It may not be productive in the eyes of a “normal” person but productive from my perspective.

The second reason I started blogging was to give those who struggle with a mental health condition/challenge that there is hope in choosing to live in active recovery whatever that may look like to the individual reading. Yes, I’ve shared by heartbreak and struggles here but I’ve gotten up and wiped myself off and hope that what I share give those who have lived experience some sort of hope.

There were some unexpected reasons I blog. The first happens to be advocacy. I didn’t realize that I could advocate here on my blog. Advocacy is something I love to do and am proud that I am able to do it on my blog. The other unexpected reason I write is that I have found that it helps me with my own recovery. My recovery means the world to me.

Thank you for reading. I appreciate all of you because if it wasn’t for you the reader I would not be writing on this blog. Thanks, again. Peace Out, World!!!

Yet, Another Post About Blogging

Good Evening, World!!! As you are well aware of, I’ve been blogging a great deal as of lately. I just hope as I continue that you don’t get bored with what I have to share especially if I post multiple times of day like I have been.

Today, I finished Developing Your Eye 1 course and enjoyed it immensely. I plan on doing the second one at a later time. I learned that I love photography.

Something I will be starting tomorrow is Everyday Inspiration. I’ve done it and complete twice before. I’ve also started it and never finished multiple times. This time I hope to finish it for the third time.

I’m going to tell you my blogging schedule once again or at least the for sure things I will be blogging about, on what days and why!!! Schedule is as follows:

Sunday: Weekly Plans. Mainly to tell you what I have planned for the week. My plans for the week are subject to change as you never know what life might bring.

Monday: Weekly Writing Prompt. This is where I can be creative with my writing.

Tuesday: TBD

Wednesday: Junior will be writing the first and third Wednesdays while Mama Bear will be writing the second and third Wednesdays.

Thursday: Hopefully, something educational.

Friday: Fun Facts. Basically random facts.

Saturday: Weekly Check-In. Basically how my week went overall.

Thank you for reading yet another post on blogging. Have a great evening. Peace Out, World!!!

A Lot on My Mind

Good Moring (again), World!!! I have a lot on my mind. Some of it has to do with blogging, while some of it has to do with other aspects of my life. The two kind of go hand and hand as my blog has a lot to do with me writing about my struggles and triumphs of my life.

I’ve been thinking on how I can get more people reading and/or following my blog. Some of it means that I have to put more effort into reading the post of the blogs I follow. If that means scheduling a time do so then I am more than willing to do so. The reason for me to start reading the blogs I follow is to like post and commenting on them. I have found that if I comment and/or like post I tend to get more traffic even if I don’t post on my blog that day. Another way is to get more traffic on my blog is tags. I’ve notice quite frequently that if I use tags I normally don’t use I tend to get more traffic. Tags appear to help a great deal. I know that is how I started following many of the blogs I currently follow. I also realized a long time ago is that if I post a picture on my blog post I get more traffic. That’s why I make every effort to read post without pictures. Not everyone has the luxury to post pictures for whatever reason. Another way that I’m trying to increase my traffic is to do free courses WordPress has to offer. Plus having a guest blogger will be helpful as well as me having a schedule on when I blog. I have found that if I blog on a regular basis folks tend to keep their interest more.

My mind is also reeling because of mental health symptoms. Specifically PTSD symptoms. Having flashbacks and body memories are not my idea of fun. Having both of these symptoms at the same time makes it feel like the trauma is happening all over again.

Something that helps me with the symptoms of PTSD is reading. I love to read especially book series as I hate to say good bye to characters. Yes, I know the characters are fictional but you can help but they become part of your life even for a short while. The book I am reading is by Robbin Hobb and is the first of a trilogy; Ship of Magic. I highly recommend it. The picture bellow is a picture of it as well as stuffed elephant a friend made me:

IMG_0244Thank you for reading this post. A post full of woes. Its much appreciated. Have a wonderful day. Happy Friday. Peace Out, World!!!

Another Post About Blogging Sh*t

Good Morning, World!!! I’ve been thinking about my blog a lot lately. Maybe because I’ve been posting more as of lately and getting my support system to finally follow through on the guest post they will do every other week. It is my hope that I can create a regular schedule on when I will have regular post as well the usual way of how I am already doing thing as posting whenever I feel like it. So the schedule I plan to have is as follows:

Sunday: Weekly Plans. This seems pretty self explanatory. It’s where I plan to tell you what I have planned for the week.

Monday: Weekly Writing prompts. This is where I can write both fiction and nonfiction stories. More or less I hope to be creative in this post as it is my hope for it to be fiction versus nonfiction as I usually write about my own personal experiences.

Tuesday: To Be Determined (TBD)

Wednesday: Guest Post. This is the day where my support system will write what its like to deal with a loved one who has lived experience. The primary guest bloggers will be Junior and Mama Bear. Junior and Mama Bear worked it out to where Junior will post on the first and third Wednesdays of the month and Mama Bear will post on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. As for the rare fifth Wednesday, I’ll get a special guest. Hopefully, someone who has been an inspiration to me, the peer community or the blogging community.

Thursday: To Be Determined (TBD)

Friday: Fun Facts. Fun Facts will include weird and/or random facts about things around the world as well as about me.

Saturday: Weekly Check-in. This is where I inform you how my week went and what I did. It’s more or less a post about how my week went.

As you can tell I have high hopes regarding keeping a regular schedule with blogging. I don’t want to not post and lose you as reader yet I don’t want to overwhelm you feed or email with too many post. I’m attempting to find a happy medium with blogging.

Something else I am going to do is take free courses that WordPress does. I’ll being doing everything from poetry to photography to inspired writing. I’m doing this in hopes to keep myself interested in blogging as well as you interested in reading my blog.

In fact keeping you my reader interested is why I am creating a schedule as well as having special guest and weekly writing prompts that hopefully will be fictional along with weekly plans and check-ins. Having a blogging schedule will also give me the structure I so desperately need and desire.

Thanks for reading about my blogging woes once again. I need to get going and get ready for the day as I have a doctors appointment with my dermatologist. I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys life. Peace Out, World
