Weekly Check-In

Good Evening, World!!! I have decide to start my weekly check-in again here on my blog. I have decided to do this again so I can be able to keep you my reader engaged in reading my blog. I realize a weekly check-in may not keep my readers engaged but at least it is something that will be posted every Saturday to let readers know I am still around. I am also going be doing Weekly Plans on Sundays for the same reason.

This week flew by quicker than I thought it would especially since it was one of those weeks a work. I love my job and being able to help people along their path of mental health recovery. It is nice to see people grow into the person they want to be.

As far as my volunteer job goes, it is going well. I now have other volunteers on my shift. Right now it is only one and they just became a volunteer. It is nice that things are getting back to normal although I fear what is going with the new Covid-19 variant. I enjoy my volunteer job at PAWS Cat City.

I’ve been pretty much doing a movie marathon this weekend. Every Friday the 13th weekend I do a movie marathon by watching the movie Friday the 13th. Yes, I know it sounds cheesy and that the movies are corny but it was something I started doing at the beginning of my mental health recovery and surprisingly still do it as I enjoy it.

I don’t have much more to say in my Weekly Check-In. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. If it wasn’t for you the reader, I wouldn’t be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope the rest of your weekend is enjoyable. Peace Out, World!!!

A Friday the 13th Post

Happy Friday the 13th, World!!! It is the start of another weekend for me and it happens to be Friday the 13th. I really like Friday the 13th for some reason. I am not sure why but I do. Maybe it is because people think it is a day of bad luck when it is not.

I am glad to be home from work. It has been a long week at work. It has also been a good week at work. Today, work went by fast and I am thrilled about that. I am also thrilled that I went into the office today since the office has air conditioning and my air conditioning isn’t set up yet.

It is a hot day in Seattle today. Not as hot as it was back in June but hot enough to be some place with an air conditioner. This summer has reminded me a great deal about my childhood in California due to the heat and the not so lovely smog. I miss certain things about California and smog is not one of the things I miss. Living in Washington (State) has its advantages and one of those advantages is not dealing with smog. Sadly, smog is starting to be a common thing during the summer here.

Despite it being nice and warm here in Seattle, I am going to stay inside most of the weekend. The reason being is because whenever there is a Friday the 13th, I do a movie marathon of watching all twelve Friday the 13th movies. Yes, I now that is weird but it is something I have done for my mental health recovery that happens two to three times a year but doesn’t happen too often and is something to look forward to. I know the movies are corny and old school but that’s what makes it special.

As I spend the weekend watching Friday the 13th movies, that means I will be spending it with my cat, Billie Dean. I am looking forward to watching movies with my cat, Billie. When I was a teenager and twenty something, I never thought a weekend at home watching movies with my cat would be fun or relaxing. Oh how things change as weekends at home is always a good thing.

I do not have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. If it was not for you my reader, I would not be writing my blog. Again, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has a good Friday the 13th. Peace Out, World!!!

Another Friday the 13th Post

Happy Friday the 13th, World!!! I am enjoying my evening but sadly, I do not think I will be able to see the full moon tonight as it is cloudy here in Seattle. Yes, it would be nice to see a full moon on Friday the 13th and the next one isn’t for another thirty years but I remember the last one which is cool thing. The last one happened when I was twenty one and the next one wont happen till I am seventy which I find interesting.

One of the things I have been enjoying is watching the television show The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross. Watching Bob Ross is soothing for me to watch. It also inspires me to paint. I wish I could paint as well as Bob Ross and able to paint scenery like him. Maybe I should attempt to paint one of his painting but at this point in time I don’t have want it takes to buy the supplies. I am only able to afford some art supplies but not all.

Beside watching Bob Ross, I have been reading the book How to Be an Antiracist. I only read three chapters today and wish I would have read more. Maybe that is something I can do tonight since I am going to be up tonight so I can sleep tomorrow since I work a twelve hour night shift tomorrow night. I can also read when it is slow at work tomorrow night. I love reading especially something that I can educate myself on and to be a better ally to people.

I do not have much more to blog about at the moment. I want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has a great Friday the 13th as well as an awesome weekend. Peace Out, World!!!

The Cool Day of Friday the 13th w/a Full Moon

Happy Friday the 13th, World!!! It is Friday the 13th and we are going to have a full moon. I know it is a rarity but I don’t understand why people are so superstitious about it. It is just another day that happens to have moon that is full. I actually tend to have good luck on Friday the 13th but I really don’t put much stock into it being a particular day.

Overall, I am having an okay type of day. Some of my depression symptoms are acting up but not too badly which is a good thing. I haven’t exactly been isolating but I also haven’t been reaching out to people. I have been selectively engaging with some form of human contact. I am doing this just because I don’t want to deal with a lot of drama.

Since I don’t want to deal with drama or a lot of people, I have been spending time with my cat, Lil Gertie. I am loving the fact that she has been extra cuddly today. I think she knows I will be away for more than twelve hours tomorrow night due to work. Either that or she knows my depression symptoms are starting to increase. Whatever her reason, I am grateful for my cats, Lil Gertie’s, unconditional love as well as her being extra cuddly today.

Something I have been doing today is watching The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross. For some reason his show is soothing to me. I wish I could paint the way he paints but that doesn’t matter as just watching him paint as he explains his technique is soothing and a form of self care for me.

I think what I am going to do after blogging, eating dinner and watching the five o’clock news is to read the book “How to Be an Antiracist.” I am learning a great deal from this book and hope to share what I have learned once I am done with the book. Hell, I might tell you what I have learned so far in another blog post.

I do not have much more to say and will in this blog post. I want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has a good Friday the 13th as well as an awesome weekend. Peace Out, World!!!

Happy Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th!!! Well, it still is Friday the 13th for another hour and a half hours in my neck of the woods. I know a lot of people who have called in sick today as it’s Friday the 13th and they have some major superstitions regarding this day.

In fact I embrace Friday the 13th. I embrace it by watching movies in marathon mode like; Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. Best way to spend a gloomy day that lands on Friday the 13th is by watching scary movies from the late 80’s and early 90’s.

I’m thinking I’m needing to get more snacks from the fridge. Time for some brownies, milk, candy and milk. Plus, I want to spend some quality time with Junior.

I hope everyone has a weekend!!! Don’t let such a superstitious day ruin such a great day. Happy Friday 13th and Peace Out!!!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!!! Where has the year gone? Its hard to believe how fast this year has flown bye. Before we know it, it will be next year (2015). Enough of how fast this year has gone by.

Now back to Halloween. This evening my boyfriend and I are having a get together with a few friends. We decided have a potluck style get together and watch movies to the wee hours of the night because it just seems more intimate. Of course we are handing out candy. Yes, we still are at 9:47pm (pacific time). As I am blogging, my boyfriend, friends and myself are watching the movie Addams Family Values. After the current movie is over with we will then watch Beetlejuice. I love the movie Beetlejuice. After Beetlejuice are going to watch all the Nightmare On Elm Street movies. Told ya we would be watching movies well into the wee hours of the morning. My boyfriend and I thought it would be nice to have a few friends over to stay the night and watch movies. My boyfriend has plenty of room in place to have people crash and sleep if and when they get tired. The best part of having close friends over is not only the nice company but the food. Oh how I love food.

If it wasn’t for me choosing to be in recovery from my mental illness I would not be able to help host this get together. My recovery means the world to me. In all honesty, watching movies is a skill or a tool I use to help me. I am grateful that I am with a handful of my closest friends and my boyfriend watching movies because my PTSD symptoms are acting up. I’m learning that it’s a good thing that I have such an amazing natural support system. They help me out when I am struggling even if they may not realize it. Many people who struggle with a mental illness don’t have very many people in their lives to help them get through their struggles.

I should get going because we are about to finish Addams Family Values and then watch Beetlejuice. I am hoping that I will start blogging more. I have just been extremely busy with my new job as well as my new volunteer job and just life in general. I hope you all have a good night. Happy Halloween. Peace Out.

Full Moon Friday The 13th 2014

Happy Full Moon Friday the 13th!! A full moon landing on Friday the 13th is a pretty uncommon but cool occurrence. The next time a full moon will on Friday the 13th will Friday, August 13, 2049. That’s 35 years away.

Well, as some of you may be aware with reading my blog I work Fridays. Fridays are my Mondays. I didn’t have a good day at work. I had a co-worker tell me today, “you’re a nobody,” when I was taking a break. My eyes filled with tears and I said, “you’re right I am a nobody.” The look on his face was an oh shit what did I say look. The tears in my eyes were real and what he said to me triggered me greatly. It not only triggered my PTSD but some of the old tapes in my head. After splashing some water on my face I apologized to him for allowing him to get to me and that I would never tell anybody that they are a nobody. My break finished and I went back to work. Apparently he told on himself and told his department manager who told the store manager. So the four of us had a meeting. My co-worker apologized and I accepted it. The store manager asked why I didn’t notify him on what my co-worker said to me. I told the store manager that I didn’t report it to him because I didn’t think it was warranted. My co-worker looked and me and said, “It takes a lot for you to cry and if someone says something that makes you tear up then you should report it. That’s why I tattled on myself because I made you tear up.” I am just grateful that we got it taken care of. I shunned it off as it being Friday the 13th and a full moon.

When I got home from work I realized that I felt like cutting myself due to being triggered so I took a nice like shower. After the shower I then finished up a cross-stitch project that I was doing. After I was done with the cross-stitch I put it away because I want to frame it and give it to my grandparents. (Side note: My grandparents helped raised me.) So when I put up my finished cross-stitching project for my grandparents I read a Wonder Woman comic book.

I read the Wonder Woman comic because somehow it gives me a source of strength. I’m not sure why reading Wonder Woman gives me a source of strength but it does. She is the ultimate superhero. For the longest time she was the only female superhero. I wish that she wasn’t the only superhero girls had in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and even part of the 80’s but am grateful that she was there for us “girls” now women. I thank the feminist movement for making sure she stayed around.

After I finished my Wonder Woman comic book I picked up the book, The Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens. I read the first 11 pages and realized that I was hungry. I fixed me some left overs and ate. After eating I read another 10 or so pages when I decided blog this particular entry. So far I am enjoying The Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens.

Just so you all know that because I used the skills I learned I did NOT self harm. I think I was triggered to cut because of what was said to me at work earlier today. I am grateful that I used my skills to help me through the urges to self harm. My recovery means the world to me. Now what to do after I am done with this particular blog entry.

Since I am planning on ending this particular blog entry I am think I am going to look for jobs in the peer support specialist/peer counseling because I am not working in a grocery store has never been my career path. I never thought I would still be working at a grocery store for nine years. So part of my plans for the rest of the evening is to look to see if there are any positions for peer support specialist/peer counseling. I know I am meant to be a peer counselor.

Well, now that I bored you with my day I am going to end this blog entry. Have a great Full Moon Friday The 13th. Peace out and have out their in the world.
