Holiday Traditions

Good Evening, World!!! I would like to inform you of my own personal holiday traditions as it was suggested to me to start my own early on in my mental health recovery. The reason why it was suggested to me is because of some of the unrealistic holiday traditions that were placed on me by my family. No disrespect to my family as I love them very much but creating my own holiday traditions have helped me cope with my family as well helped me cope with my PTSD and depression.

When it was suggested to me by my therapist at the time early on in my mental health recovery the only thing I could think of regarding traditions for myself was comic books. Specifically two comic books that focused on Christmas. In fact the comic books I am speaking of are Christmas with the Superhero’s volume one and two by DC comics.

Over the years I have added to my holiday traditions. I have included the typical traditions of watching movies and listening to music. I have also included with the help of friends of the Jewish faith of spending a night or two or three celebrating Hanukkah with my friends who celebrate it. I am grateful that I can help celebrate Hanukkah with my friends who celebrate it. Besides watching holiday movies, listening to holiday music and spending two or three nights celebrating Hanukkah, I have included the following traditions to my list: reading holiday focused books, doing holiday or wintery focused jigsaw puzzles, doing holiday focused logic puzzles, doing Christmas dot to dot, and doing artwork focused on holidays or wintery scenes which includes coloring and diamond art/painting.

Now that I informed you of what I do for my own holiday traditions, it is challenging to know how my family traditions will change this year and next year due to my mom passing away two days before Thanksgiving. I say this year and next year as this year it is so fresh. I know I will keep some of the Christmas traditions my mom instilled upon me. As far as my dad’s side of the family they will still celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve as one of my uncle’s birthday is on Christmas and celebrate his birthday on Christmas.

I do not have anything else to write about in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you the reader, read my blog. If it was not for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be continuing to write my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out and Happy Holidays, World!!!

Very Little Sleep Last Night

Good Morning, World!!! I didn’t get much sleep last night and I am not sure why. In fact it is almost eight o’clock in the morning in Seattle and plan on going back to bed. I did plan on what I am going to do today besides a work meeting online this evening.

I am going to be waiting on some packages from Amazon. I am also planing on reading a holiday book as well as doing a holiday jigsaw puzzle as I listen to be listening to music. I am also am going to to be doing Math for Dummies. I know doing Math for Dummies sounds lame but I would like to learn more about math and be efficient in my math skills. Good back to the Amazon order I am accepting some crafting and artsy stuff to do to keep myself busy during the winter months

I think I am going back to sleep for a few more hours. I have a wonderful work week everyone.

Weekly Check-In

Hello, World!!! It has been quite the week. I worked this past Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. My job is only three days a week which are four hour shifts. In fact I worked this past Thursday which was Thanksgiving here in the United States. I was and am glad that I was able to work Thanksgiving. All three of my work shifts went great. I enjoy my job but I wish I worked more than twelve hours a week. My boss and colleagues are amazing.

Now back to the topic of Thanksgiving. I not only worked but spent time with my dads side of the family. I had an awesome dinner that my uncle made. I had dinner with my dad, grandpa and two uncles. I love my family so much. I also called my mom to wish her a Happy Thanksgiving. I also called my two uncles as well as my two aunts on my mom’s side to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving. To be honest, I called my mom three times as she is dealing with stage three cancer and since my brother is in jail I wanted to make sure she know that I love her. My mom did spend Thanksgiving with my two uncles (her brothers) and one of their girl friends. So, I am grateful she was not only on Thanksgiving.

As far as yesterday goes, I worked and came home and started doing my holiday traditions. I first turned on holiday music and then started two different holiday jigsaw puzzles. I am still trying to figure out what holiday book I am going to read this year. I have three holiday books in mind. Who know’s I might read all three. I am also going to be coloring holiday posters. Some I started last year and didn’t finish and some I will start this year. Anyway, I am getting into the holiday spirit and doing it my style.

Well, that is my weekly check-in for the week. Now it is time to cuddle up with my cat Billie and read. Happy Holidays and Peace Out, World!!!

Best Part of Waking Up is Billie in My Lap as I Read

Good Morning and Happy Saturday, World!!! I slept in this morning which was awesome since I woke up in the middle of the night. It took me about two hours to get back to sleep but on the good note I was able to get back to sleep as well as sleep in.

In fact the best part of this morning was not the sleeping in part part; it was the Billie cuddling up in my lap as I finally chose a holiday book to read. In fact it is a Christmas book I am going to start reading after I am done posting this particular blog post. The book I will be reading is ” Sleigh Bells Riding” by RaeAnne Thayne. I’m not exactly sure what the book is about except it is set during Christmas time. It is going to be one of those days I stay in and read as well as hang out with my wonderful cat, Billie.

The weather is the typical Seattle weather. The ground is wet gut at least it is not raining. Do it’s a damp cold day in Seattle. I might even work on my jigsaw puzzle to today which is in the holiday spirit.

i co not have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. Happy Holidays and Peace Out, World!!!

A Peaceful Way to Begin the Holiday

Good Evening, World!!! This is the time of year where many get overly stressed. Stressed about everyday life as well as the upcoming holiday a person may celebrate. Everyone celebrates different holidays as not everyone is the same faith. For me I celebrate Yule and Christmas. Christmas more of a family thing while Yule is a me thing that I celebrate with friends. I do celebrate other holidays with other friends if I’m invited to join.

Since my last blog post earlier today. I finally found a holiday book I am going to read. I haven’t started it yet but I will after this particular blog post. I started a jigsaw puzzle and got all the ends together meaning the border is done and now to work on the inside of the puzzle. I have been coloring a Hanukkah poster I am coloring for a friend in Texas. It will hopefully be done and sent to Texas for her. I did the Yule jigsaw puzzle and colored the Hanukkah poster all the while listening to Christmas music. To me this is what the holidays are suppose to be; support each other even when it is not your own faith. I am feeling very peaceful by starting my Friday with peaceful way to start the holiday season with celebrating as many faith as I can with respect.

My holiday tradition giving me some peace in my heart and a lot of love other people’s faith. I would love to learn more about other people’s faith tradition this time of year.

On that note, I hope you have great holiday season no matter what holiday you celebrate or if you don’t celebrate any. Now it’s time for me to spend more time with my cat, Billie. I sure love my can Billie. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Happy Holidays and Peace Out, World!!!

Looking Forward to Laid Back Weekend

Happy Friday, World!!! It is the day after Thanksgiving which most American call “Black Friday” due to the major sales retailers have for holidays shoppers seeking the perfect gift. Anyway, I have never liked “Black Friday” nor understand why you would want to stand in line hours before the butt crack of dawn.

On that note, I worked this more and am now off and home enjoying the company of my lovely cat, Billie. This is the time of year I pull out my winter and/or holiday jigsaw puzzles and start doing one or two of them. I also pull out a holiday book to read. I already started on one of my holiday jigsaw puzzles. I am not exactly sure what holiday book I will read. I am going to be coloring a holiday poster.

The weather in Seattle today sucks but it is the “normal” Seattle weather. Even though I currently don’t have a holiday book to read, I do have book that I am reading. So, I think I will make some hot tea and curl up in a blanket or two with my cat Billie on my lap as I read.

In fact I think this weekend is going to be a curl up and read type of weekend. Or at least stay in my pajama’s and do puzzles. I love this type of weather sometimes because it gives me an excuse to read, do puzzles, do art and just hang out in my pajama’s with my cat Billie.

I do not have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciative from my end of things that you the reader, read my blog. If it was not for you the reader, reading my blog I would not be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Happy Holidays and Peace Out, World!!!

Thursday Morning Random Thoughts

Good Morning, World!!! I still haven’t had any sleep. I have been keeping myself busy as being busy helps me deal with what I need to deal with.

One way I have been dealing with things is working on my workbooks. I have been working on both my LGBTQ and my recovery strengths workbooks. Both workbooks are helping me with my recovery with a mental health challenge as well as accepting myself as me.

I have also been reading. I have been reading my Star Wars book. I am almost done with it. I hope that when I am done with it that I will remember to do a book review on it. I love to read.

I have also been working on a jigsaw puzzle of the Titanic while listening to a podcast about philosophy. Doing puzzle and listening to a podcast helps me retain what I heard on the podcast.

Thank you for reading and Peace out world!!!

Still Sleepless in Snowy Seattle

Good Morning, World!!! I am still sleepless in Seattle. On the plus note I get to see the snow falling without worrying about needing to go out into it. Or at least not to later on. It is three o’clock in the morning and I don’t have to go out into till eleven o’clock in the morning when I go spend time with family. Snow in Seattle doesn’t happen all to often. We did have a White Christmas which is always a good thing. I am not a big fan of snow but I can’t deny that it’s not pretty because it is beautiful especially when you don’t have to go out into it.

Something I have been doing besides watching the snow fall is reading. I have been reading Wonder Woman comic books. I love being able to curl up with a few comic books, drinking hot chocolate on a cold winters morning. Yes, it’s the middle of the night morning but it’s still morning.

Another thing I have been doing is doing a Wonder Woman jigsaw puzzle. I love puzzles. this puzzle is one thousand pieces and quite challenging. Maybe when I finish with it, I will take a picture of it and post it.

I should get going and try to sleep. Have a great day everyone Peace Out, World!!!

Middle of the Night Ramblings

Hello, World!!! It is exactly twelve midnight in my corner of the world. I’m not sure if I will be able to sleep tonight but I hope I will be able to. As a precaution I came up with a plan to keep myself occupied if I am unable to sleep.

The plan is to do some art. Most likely some collaging. Collaging a poem or two or maybe more. It seems to be something I’ve been enjoying quite a bit the last few days. I might make one in memory of my grandma.

Another thing I have planned is to read my book Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb. Yes, it’s taking a while for me to read but am enjoying it quite a bit. I will also be reading Wonder Woman comic books.

Speaking of Wonder Woman, I am doing a Wonder Woman jigsaw puzzle. It’s a one thousand piece puzzle and love the challenge.

Thank you for reading. Have a good night everyone an Peace Out, World!!!

Nice Relaxing Day, Thus Far

Good Afternoon, World!!! Its been a nice relaxing day, thus far. I’ve been reading most of the day. I’ve either been reading Wonder Woman comic books or Ship of Magic. It appears that I have some form of addiction to reading as of lately. Maybe its because I’ve been struggling so badly the last year that reading has been a challenge for me and now that things are improving; I’m taking full advantage of reading.

As much as I have been reading today, I have done other things as well. Junior and I have worked on the Wonder Woman puzzle I got for Christmas that my brother Jay got me. Anyone who knows me know that I love Wonder Woman and jigsaw puzzles.

As I continued working on the puzzle Junior made an awesome Mexican dish he learned from his grandma. Junior is second generation born Mexican American on both his mother’s and father’s side. The Mexican dish we had was amazing and we have enough left over for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow.

Now that we are done cleaning up after a late lunch Junior and I are going to watch movies for the rest of the day. We are going to watch Wonder Woman first. Then we are going to watch Suicide Squad. Both movies Junior and I love both movies and are looking forward to watching them.

I should get going so I can watch the movies with Junior. I hope every has a great Saturday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Peace Out, World!!!
