A Not So Normal Wednesday but So Far So Good With Some Sad Moments

Good Afternoon, World!!! I am off work and have been for just over three hours now. My employer decided to close the agency I work for early today. So, I work for four hours and get paid for eight hours. I’m complaining about working for four hours and getting paid for eight hours.

Anyway, right now I am home alone without my cat, Billie Dean. Billie is at my grandpa’s house so I can do some major deep cleaning to where I will be using chemicals not good for cat. Billie will be coming home on Saturday. So, I did some cleaning right after I was done with work. I did more cleaning and chores than I thought I would do after work.

After work and house cleaning I went for a walk. A walk that led me to my volunteer job to spend fifteen minutes with some cats since my cat, Billie is with my grandpa. It felt good to get some kitty time. After visiting some cats, I walked and picked up some incense which helps me with my self care. After picking up some incense, I walked to the bank and got some cash as well as some quarters for laundry. The walk helped a great deal.

I am now home listening to a podcast about philosophy with incense burning as part of my self care which is even helping me more. I am listening to the philosophy podcast “Philosophize This” as I learn a great deal from this podcast.

Doing my self care today is key for me as tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day which mark exactly two years since my last cat, Lil Brooke crossed over the rainbow bridge. I really miss Lil Brooke with all my heart. On that note if it wasn’t for loosing her, I wouldn’t have been come a volunteer at PAWS Cat City here in Seattle. I also wouldn’t have had the chance to adopt my current cat Billie Dean.

Speaking of my cat Billie, he is at my grandpa’s right now and tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day which means, I will be at my grandpa’s celebrating Thanksgiving with my grandpa, dad, my two uncles and of course my cat Billie. I am looking forward to seeing Billie tomorrow and then coming home and deep cleaning my apartment.

Despite the multiple emotions of today, it has over all been a good day with some sad moments. I do not have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you the reader, read my blog. If it wasn’t for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be writing my blog. So, thank you again from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Have you all have a great rest of your Wednesday. If you live in the United States I hope you have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow. Peace Out, World!!

Restarting Something Helping Me with My Recovery

Good Night, World!!! It is nearly midnight in my neck of the world known as Seattle. At the beginning of this years I started going to a twelve-step program that more focused on recovery with changing yourself than exclusively only using the twelve-steps. The twelve-steps is more of a guide and the focus of changing yourself and reparenting yourself is the key to this program. Anyway, I hadn’t been in over six months till tonight and am grateful I went. I am thinking this will be part of my recovery as I need to learn to deal with my inner child and how to reparent myself.

In fact this something I have been starting work on with my relatively new therapist. So, I feel like going to this program and therapy will be have great help in my own recovery. Therapy and the twelve-step program isn’t the only way I need to continue to help with my recovery is going for daily walks twice daily, doing daily mindfulness meditation practice and of course spending time with my beloved cat, Billie Dean. Billie really helps my recovery.

I do not have much more to say in this particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you do read my blog. If it wasn’t for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be writing my blog. So, again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

Another Self Care Day from Work

Good Friday, Evening, World!!! I am taking another self care day from work for my mental health. It was triggered by a therapy session I had this past Tuesday. As much as I wish I wasn’t triggered to where I didn’t need to take time off for mental health reasons, I look at is as a sign of strength. A strength to take care of myself.

Today and yesterday have not been a waste of time in regards to work as I have been reading two books that are completely different but very similar. As a colleague says seeing parallels in books that are so opposite from either is awesome and a great way to learn. I am hoping to post about the intersections of the books into both my profession and personal live which I find fascinating. Reading even though it is both for professional and personal live for me is a form or self care for me.

Another form of self care for me was spending time with my beloved cat Billie Dean. Billie is an amazing 15 pound kitty that loves me unconditionally. I am so grateful that he is in my life. I hope he knows how much I love him back. Despite the weather today in Seattle, I still managed to get in a walk. In fact, I go two walk in today which is a great thing.

I did have a brief check in with my therapist today via the phone. The check in with my therapist was quite helpful and think she is a great fit for me and my recovery. I am grateful to be able to have access to therapy as many people sadly do not have access to therapy.

I do not have much more to discuss in the particular blog post. I do want to thank you for reading my blog post. If it wasn’t for you the reader, reading my blog, I would not be writing my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. Peace Out, World!!!

A Thousand Words to Say Yet Nothing Comes Out But Tears Through the Eyes

I am continuing to love my job and try to help wear I can. It appears that I am being bullied slightly at work. I’m being bullied by a white person because I am sticking up for my colleagues the identify as part of the BIPOC community. I did what I needed to do and all I want is everyone to be treated with respect no matter what what they identify as. Sadly, I am being bullied by a white colleagues. During the meeting only one person was against me as my team had my back. I felt I have the back of most of my colleagues including my supervisor. My supervisor is just one amazing human being. and am grateful to for her to be on board.

I learned a great deal about my colleagues and how supportive they are with dealing with such a bully in the work place. My Supervisor came by my -place to take our cats out for walks and for we can meet in person for the first time. I’m grateful for her checking up on me and a mutual walk with our cats. Our cats got along great.

I know there is bully at my place at work and I feel like it getting taking care off. I like the fact that my colleagues might be come friends. Love being about to talk about cat stuff instead of just work. I love cast

I do not know what else to say for the day expect a great big thank you. Thank you for reading.

Photography: Developing Your Eye I; Day Nine: Pop of Color

Good Morning, World!!! Today’s topic for the photography course I am taking for free through WordPress is “Pop of color.” When I saw the topic I immediately thought of this picture I took last summer. Took it last summer as I walked through the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle before going to an art class I was taking at the time. Every time I see this picture it makes me smile.

A pink flower with bright green in the center.

Photography: Developing Your Eye I; Day Six: Solitude

Good Morning, World!!! Today’s topic for the photography course I am taking through WordPress is “solitude.” While on one of my many walks though the trails of Cowen and Ravenna Parks, I saw this mama owl in what appears to be solitude. She is observing her three babies that are in another tree but I like to think as I was taking time of solitude she was doing the same thing. Spending time walking through the trails of Cowen and Ravenna Parks have been in solitude and quite helpful for me. The picture below is of the mama owl in solitude. For those who are sight impaired there are captions and hope you are able to read them as they are apart of the picture.

Photography: Developing Your Eye I; Day Five: Connect

Good Morning, World!!! Today’s topic for my photography course through WordPress is “connect.” For me the word “connect” means many things. In this case, I have decided to post a picture of trails connecting in two parks here in Seattle. You can see wooded walk way over a brook and if you look a little further you can see some steps. This is just one of the many trails connecting to one another which connect Cowen and Ravenna Parks together. I have loved rediscovering the trails that connect Cowen and Ravenna Parks. For those who are sight impaired I included a caption with the picture. I just hope you are able to read it as it is apart of the picture. WordPress gives you that option.

Weekly Check-In

Good Evening, World!!! I am beyond grateful for taking today off. I am grateful that I can be awake during daylight hours especially on the first day of summer. I am grateful that I won’t have to work tonight.

As I stated sometime late last week/early this week that I would be starting the Weekly Check-Ins once again on Saturday evenings. So I am following through on what I said I would do and am not allowing increased PTSD symptoms to prevent me from doing so. So here is my weekly check-in.

As expected I went to my volunteer job at PAWS Cat City on Monday. I am still in training and “helped” with an adoption. More or less I observed but I am okay with that. I mostly did dishes and laundry which I am glad I was able to do as we only had one person scheduled to visit a cat and thankfully the cat found its furrever home. I was also able to visit with the cats and spend time with them. I mainly spent time with the senior kitty with FIV. I feel in love with him and so would have adopted him but since FIV cats need to be an only cat or be in a home with other cat with FIV adopting him was not an option as my cat, Billie Dean, does not have FIV. I love being able to volunteer at PAWS Cat City.

I had my usual session with my therapist. Instead of having a phone session we decided to do our session via Zoom. I wish would have been Zoom all along but it is a lesson learned. As of right now, my next session is going to be in person with extra precautions in place but if the agency I go has to change the start date for in person session then our session will be via Zoom. My current therapist appears to be really supportive.

One of the things I did do multiple times this past week was go walking to Cowen Park and Ravenna Park. In fact I “hiked” through both parks as they have trails that connect both parks together. I love the being able to go walking on trails through local city parks. In fact Seattle has some pretty amazing parks. Parks that have actual hiking trails which I love.

Another thing I did multiple times this week was start doing mindfulness and/or meditation practices twice daily. I had pretty much stopped this completely and realized I needed to get back into mindfulness and/or meditations practices. I have found that it has been quite helpful for me and my recovery to continue to do this.

I do not have much more to share in this particular blog post. Thank you so much for reading my blog. It is greatly appreciated from my end of things that you read my blog. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I hope everyone has a great summer ahead of them. Peace Out, World!!!
