Depression Strikes, Again

Good Evening, World!!! Right now I am struggling with depression and anxiety. I am not sure why as it was an overall good day. Symptoms come at the most inopportune time especially those associated with PTSD.

I have been doing my workbook on mindfulness. It has been quite helpful for me working this workbook as well as the other workbooks I am doing. I am finding that using mindfulness is helping me with my reactivity and how I respond to things.

I also ordered three Star Wars books from Amazon as they were giving deals on Star Wars stuff. I got one of the books for free. I am looking forward to reading the Star Wars books as I am a huge fan of the Movies.

Speaking of reading I read today as well. I am finally getting some where in one of the books I am reading. It is finally getting good. I love to read.

Midnight Ramblings

Hello, World!!! It is midnight in my corner of the world. I am up watching television. Actually, I am watching The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. I watch this show as it helps with my anxiety especially before I go to bed for the night.

Another thing that helps with my anxiety is the new weighted blank I got today. I really recommend it as it appears to be helpful. Or at least the twelve or so hours I have had it. I didn’t think it would be helpful and boy was I wrong.

I have been working on one of my workbooks. In fact I have been working on the workbooks that deals with mindfulness. Focusing on mindfulness as been quite helpful when I am dealing with.

I think the Ambien is starting to kick in. I think I should get some sleep before I get a little loopy from the Ambien.

Fighting Off High Anxiety

Good Morning, World!!! I am have some high anxiety again. Anxiety that appears to come and go as it pleases. I just don’t understand why it is so high lately. I think part of my high anxiety today is due to not sleeping. Having no sleep adds to my symptoms of the mental health diagnosis I struggle with.

I think I am going to be working on one of my workbooks. I am not sure which one yet but I will be working on one of them. They appear to be helping me in multiple ways. They are helping me better myself.

Another thing that has been quite helpful as of lately is reading. I am really enjoying the books I am reading. Yes, I am reading multiple books. I am enjoying them immensely.

Is It Too Much To Ask For Sleep

Good Morning, World!!! It is three o’clock in the morning and I haven’t been to sleep yet. I have been keeping myself busy by reading. Reading appears to be of help to me. Especially on nights where I am unable to sleep. Reading is so much more fun than watching middle of the night television. Television that is nothing but infomercials.

I have also been working on my workbook. A workbook that is geared toward folks with insomnia who struggle with depression and anxiety. I am only on the first chapter but so far I am finding it helpful.

I am grateful that I have the abilities to help myself through not being able to sleep. Yes, insomnia suck shit but I am able to help myself. I am able to help myself by reading, doing workbooks, blogging and other such things.

No Sleep in Seattle

Good Morning, World!!! I am having issues sleeping once again. Which should be no surprise to anyone who reads my blog on the regular basis. Sleep hasn’t come easy for as of lately and it is starting to frustrate the hell out of me.

As frustrating as not being able to sleep is for me, I have come up with creative ways to keep myself busy. One of those ways is looking at potential tattoos I would like to get. For me the tattoos I get represent hope and/or recovery. I want the tattoos I get to not only give me hope and represent recovery but to give others hope as well.

Not only have I been looking at potential tattoos, I have been working on my mindfulness workbook. The chapter I am on is discussing spaciousness, compassion and mindfulness. The part I am having trouble with is having compassion for myself. I can have compassion for others but find it difficult for myself.

I think once I am done blogging I’ll read. I am eager to finish the books I am reading. In fact the book I am reading is a really good book and I am enjoying it immensely.

Everyone Needs A Day Off

Good Afternoon, World!!! It’s been a day since I last posted. I didn’t post for no particular reason. Sometimes we just need a day off every once in a while even from blogging. Don’t get me wrong, I love blogging, I just need a day off.

One of the things I did yesterday was nap most of the day. I think it was because I was so tired and catching up on sleep. Not only did I sleep a lot yesterday, I also read. I read Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb. I am enjoying the books thus far. Besides reading and napping I worked on two of my workbooks. Workbooks that help me with my recovery.

Having a nice day off from blogging was a good thing. Unfortunately, my best friends mom died today from health complications. She was only in her sixties. She was like a second mom to me. This was the friends mom that helped me convince my grandma to play the flute.  Please keep my friend and her family in your thoughts and send positive vibes their way.

Home From the Emergency Room (E.R)

Good Evening, World!!! I am home from the Emergency Room (E.R). I went to the E.R because I self harmed again. I ended up getting stitches. While in the E.R I used my coping skills. I ended up doing some are work. Specifically, I colored mandala’s. The nurses and social work were impressed with my color scheme of the mandala’s.

The social worker on duty asked what let me to self harm this time and I explained that I dissociated and that is when I self harmed. Dissociation is a problem for me and when I self harm while dissociated it makes it that much worse for me.

Now that I am home, I will be working on one of my workbooks. Not sure which one yet but I will do one. I have found that workbooks help me with my recovery. My therapist likes the fact that I do self help workbooks to help myself and my recovery.

So Far a Busy Tuesday

Good Afternoon, World!!! It is early Tuesday afternoon and so far I have done a lot today. One of the first things I did today was work of my mindfulness workbook. I started the first chapter which is on Fear and Mindfulness. I didn’t finish the chapter as I had to get go to get to my therapy appointment on time.

I showed my therapist the coping skills box I made per his suggestion. I also share the paper I wrote. He was impressed by both the box and the paper. More so that I was willing to do both. He now realizes that therapy homework will be beneficial to me and will think of assignments for me to do starting next week.

Another thing that happened today was that I found out that I have a job interview at a community mental health agency for a peer position next Tuesday. This will be a part time job which would be so much better for me than a full time job. I hope I get the job I am interviewing for next Tuesday.

A Lazy Saturday

Good Evening, World!!! As I write this I am listening to Philosophize This, a podcast on philosophy. I am really enjoying this podcast. I, recently started listening to podcast and this is one that I have started. I decided to start listening to the first one and work my way up to the most current one. I figure if I listen to two to three a day I can get to the most current one by the end of the year.

Besides listening to podcast on philosophy, I’ve been working on my workbooks. Specifically, I have been working on my mindfulness workbook. For me being able to focus on mindfulness has been quite helpful for my recovery process.

Since we are on the topic of mindfulness, I also journaled in my guided journal that focuses on mindfulness. Today’s entry was about mindfulness reminders. So, I got a bunch of sticky notes to remind me to do mindfulness practices.

I have also been focusing a great deal on art today. I have been painting as I listened to podcast. I have also been doing some coloring. For me art is a type of mindfulness practice. It also helps me with expressing my emotions.
